❤️ Love Your Spine, Love Your Health
Week 3: Spine & Organ Function
Your spine does more than support movement — it protects the communication pathway between your brain and your organs. Nerves travel from the spinal cord between each vertebra to regulate how organs function throughout the body.
How the Spine Influences Organ Function
The spinal cord carries messages from the brain to:
• Digestive organs
• Heart and lungs
• Liver, kidneys, and bladder
• Hormonal and immune systems
When spinal joints lose proper motion or alignment, nerve communication may become less efficient, which can affect organ function over time.
Spinal Regions & Organ Communication
Different areas of the spine influence different systems:
🔹 Cervical (neck): brain communication, breathing support, thyroid
🔹 Thoracic (mid-back): heart, lungs, stomach, liver, intestines
🔹 Lumbar (low back): kidneys, bladder, large intestine, reproductive organs
This doesn’t mean symptoms always show up as back pain — many organ-related issues occur without obvious spinal discomfort.
Posture & Organ Health
Collapsed posture can:
• Compress abdominal organs
• Restrict rib and diaphragm movement
• Slow digestion and circulation
Over time, this may contribute to bloating, shallow breathing, tension, and fatigue.
Supporting Spine–Organ Health
✔ Maintain good posture
✔ Move the spine daily, especially the mid-back
✔ Avoid prolonged slouching after meals
✔ Stay hydrated to support spinal discs and nerves
💡 Takeaway:
Clear nerve communication supports efficient organ function. When you love your spine, you support your whole-body health.
