On a special day like today, we'd like to introduce you to our dear friend, Haylee! 💙Today is . Haylee is a long time member of the , who was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes when she was 22 years old. We asked her some questions so that you can get to know what life with diabetes can look like!

🔹What is the most important part of your routine to care for you diabetes?
"Checking my blood sugars and being aware of my trigger foods. Also taking my medication as prescribed."

🔹Did you have any signs before your diagnosis?
"Yes! There were times of extreme thirst, and frequent bathroom breaks. I also dealt with dry skin. I could not get hydrated because my kidneys were trying to excrete excess sugar through my urine. I was also aware of the potential as I have a strong family history of diabetes."

🔹What’s something you would like to tell a newly diagnosed person?
"Life does get better and you can live a healthy, long and fulfilling life even with diabetes. It’s just a lifestyle not a death sentence!"

🔹Why should people educate themselves on diabetes awareness?
"You can live your life not knowing you’re diabetic until it’s too late. It can cause lasting damage, and early diagnosis and good management is key to living a healthy life."
