CS-CASH had a strong presence at the 2025 MRASH Conference, held in the historic Amana Colonies in Amana, Iowa. We were proud to serve as a conference sponsor and to have a CS-CASH representative on the planning committee. Throughout the two-day event, our team delivered presentations covering a wide range of agricultural health and safety topics, contributing to important conversations shaping the future of the field.

Our team presentations included:
- One Health Concepts Lead to New Partners (Panel Member: Matt Nonnenman)
- Letโ€™s partner! Engaging Small Farm Poultry Producers in the Prevention of Exposure to HPAL (Ellen Duysen)
- Vector-borne Diseases (Shaun Cross)
- Tickborne Disease Education for Indigenous Bison Workers (Alexandrea Welch)
- Chronic health conditions among cattle feedyard workers (Athena Ramos)
- Impact of Occupational Exposures on Environmental Allergies Among Farmers and Ranchers in Central United States (Alexandra Welch)
- Who and What is Missing? A Qualitative Analysis of Agricultural Injury News Coverage (Ellen Duysen)

๐Ÿšœ Did you know? The leading causes of injuries and deaths in agriculture often involve accidents with motorized vehicles and machinery โ€” including ATVs and UTVs, not just large equipment like tractors or combines.

๐ŸŽ™๏ธ In this episode of Talking Total Farmer Health, host Linda Emanuel sits down with Curt Porterfield to discuss ATV/UTV safety and what every ag worker should know before heading out into the field.

๐Ÿ’ก If you use ATVs or UTVs, you wonโ€™t want to miss this important conversation!

Central States Center for Agricultural Safety and Health (CS-CASH)

The Central States Center for Agricultural Safety and Health (CS-CASH) is housed at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, College of Public Health. CS-CASH is one of 11 National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health Ag Centers. The Center serves a seven-state region including North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Minnesota, Iowa, and Missouri. We collaborate with our neighboring Centers, based out of Colorado, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Texas. Each of these Centers has unique projects and focus areas. CS-CASH focuses primarily on respiratory disease research, injury surveillance, hearing protection, feedyard and bison worker safety, educational needs of farmers, including non-traditional farmers, their family members, and workers. Our goal is to serve the farming community by discovering causes of injury and illness, and communicating information about prevention in ways that reaches as many farmers as possible.
