Got to take Anna Jennings, SPT, from WashU Medicine Physical Therapy and Jared Mattley, SPTA, from Clarkson College, as well as my daughter, Ellie Brunken, to the Rehab Science Research Lab at Creighton University yesterday. A special thanks to Brooke Farmer, MS, ATC, for taking Ellie through her testing. So valuable for determining strength differences.

Well, how is everyone doing on their New Year's resolutions? Was one of them to get healthier, lose weight, feel better, and/or decrease pain? Many have some sort of heart rate monitor on their wrists, but what should my heart rate be during walks or workouts?

Remember to start slow.
Celebrate a 10-minute workout.
Take the stairs.
Stand at your desk.
Park your car farther away from the grocery store entrance and walk.
Listen to your favorite book, podcast, or music while working out.
Sign up for a class.
Meet a friend for a walk or workout.
Try multiple gyms and/or classes before you join.
If you join a gym, make sure that you have to drive by it on the way to or from home/work.
Walk your dog.
