Roeder Mortuary, 108th

Roeder Mortuary, 108th Roeder Mortuary has been family owned since 1912 and serves Omaha and surrounding communities from three locations.

At Roeder Mortuary, “Our Family Helping Yours,” is more than a fancy slogan, it’s how we do business. We believe that our primary purpose is providing careful and caring service to our community … the people who are our neighbors and friends. We believe that independence, fairness, professionalism and integrity are necessary ingredients in building a relationship of trust with our families.

“What I have learned lately is that people deal with death in all sorts of ways. Some of us fight against it, doing everything we can to make it not true. Some of us lose our selves to grief. Some of us lose ourselves to anger.” ― Carrie Jones

“I see what grief does, how it strips you bare, shows you all the things you don’t want to know. That loss doesn’t end, that there isn’t a moment where you are done, when you can neatly put it away and move on.” ― Elizabeth Scott

“The difference between shallow happiness and a deep, sustaining joy is sorrow. Happiness lives where sorrow is not. When sorrow arrives, happiness dies. It can’t stand pain. Joy, on the other hand, rises from sorrow and therefore can withstand all grief. Joy is the transfiguration of suffering into endurance, and of endurance into character, and of character into hope—and the hope that has become our joy does not (as happiness must for those who depend up on it) disappoint us.” ― Walter Wangerin Jr.

The holiday season can be especially painful after the loss of a loved one. You are invited to attend a special Service of Remembrance, an evening to reflect, remember, and celebrate your loved one. It is an evening to honor those we’ve lost, offer comfort and hope in our grief. Through uplifting music, scripture and reflection we will create a space to remember our loved ones as we continue in our healing journey.

“Great griefs exhaust. They discourage us with life. The man into whom they enter feels something taken from him. In youth, their visit is sad; later on, it is ominous.” ― Victor Hugo
