📣Help Shape the Future of Communication Technology for Kids 📣

We are inviting children to participate in a research study exploring how brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) may help children communicate using their brain signals, without needing to move or speak. Including the perspectives and experiences of children is important for building communication technology that is truly user-centered and effective. By participating, your child would help us learn how to make these systems easier to use and more responsive to individual needs.

📍Requirements:
Participants should be 8–12 years old. We are recruiting children with a diagnosis of cerebral palsy or Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Participants should not have electrical implants (such as pacemakers), should have English as their first language, and should not have color blindness. Participants must not have previously taken part in a study where they made selections using a BCI system. Your child does not need to currently use a communication device to participate.

Because the system includes flashing visual images, safety is very important. Participants must not have a history of photosensitive epilepsy. If your child has a history of seizures or epilepsy, please let us know so we can complete a brief screening form.

🕐Duration: The study includes three sessions lasting about 60–90 minutes each. Sessions involve using the BCI system and a design activity. Brief questionnaires about fatigue and attention will also be included.
