💡 “I’m just getting old.”
If I had a dollar for every time I heard that in the exam room…well, you get the point. The truth? Getting older doesn’t automatically mean your joints have to seize up. What does matter is motion.

When your joints move through their full range—whether that’s a simple squat, a reach overhead, or a rotation twist—you’re doing more than just “moving.” You’re feeding the system. The joint surfaces bathed in Synovial fluid — the egg-white-like lubricant that cushions, nourishes cartilage, and reduces friction.

Conversely, when you sit too long, or operate in a tight range of motion, the synovial fluid flow slows, the cartilage gets less nutrition, the joint surfaces can stiffen and degrade. Research shows that joint immobilization reduces synovial fluid quality, leads to cartilage changes, and can increase the friction in the joint surfaces.

Bottom line: You’re not just getting old. Your movement patterns are either supporting your joints — or holding them back.

Late post, but had to shout out Peak Performance for hosting a great shakeout run before the Goodlife Halfsy this last weekend! I stopped by to talk with runners about warm-ups, cool downs, and post race recovery. Always fun helping people feel ready to run their best. Football season is in full swing, and with it comes the reality that concussions can (and do) happen. Whether it’s under the Friday night lights, on the practice field, or even in everyday life, knowing how to handle a concussion is key to recovery.

As chiropractors, we don’t treat concussions directly. But after the initial recovery, many athletes still deal with lingering issues like headaches, neck stiffness, dizziness, or trouble concentrating. These symptoms are often linked to dysfunction in the neck and upper back — areas chiropractic care is uniquely positioned to help.

By improving movement in the spine, reducing muscle tension, and working on posture and mobility, we can support athletes in getting back to feeling and performing their best.

🏃‍♂️ THE DISTANCE PROJECT IS ON 🏃‍♀️

is putting together something really cool for runners here in Omaha — it’s called The Distance Project, and I’m pumped to be part of it.

Starting August 10th, This 13-week program is designed to prep you for fall races like the Good Life Halfsy or Omaha Marathon. But it’s more than just a training plan — they’re bringing in local coaches, doctors, PTs, and sports performance experts (like me 👋) to help runners stay strong, move well, and train smart.

If you’re running this fall, I’ll be one of the professionals available throughout the Distance Project to help with any aches, pains, or movement issues that pop up as the mileage builds. Whether you’re a first-time runner or chasing a new PR, running has a way of exposing weaknesses — and that’s where I come in.
