Everyone talks about MES implementation like it’s a clean, structured process.
It’s not.

At Pharma MES, our GMP Pros team—Grant Wallace, Kyle Swartzendruber, Than Nguyen, and Patrick Cassidy—shared what it actually looks like inside large, regulated pharma and animal health companies.

The wins.
The breakdowns.
What happens when the wheels come off—and what it takes to get things back on track.

These aren’t theoretical lessons. They’re lived experiences from teams who have been in the middle of it.

Proud of this group for showing up and sharing the real story.

If you weren’t able to attend, we’re sharing the full session here 👇

We had a great time in Boston at Pharma MES—and honestly, this one felt different.

Instead of talking about how MES and eBR implementations should go, we talked about how they actually go when you’re in it. The pivots. The friction. The moments where the plan looks great on paper… and then reality shows up.

Because that’s where the real work happens.

A few things that really seemed to resonate with the room:
💡 Inconsistent design creates friction you don’t see right away—but operators feel it immediately
💡Verification should protect risk, not slow everything to a crawl
💡If the floor doesn’t believe in it, it’s not going to stick—adoption is earned
💡And awareness isn’t capability… confidence comes from actually doing the work

That last one hits every time.

What we're proud of is this: our team didn’t stand up there and talk theory. They shared lived experience—what happens when timelines shift, when designs need to change mid-flight, and how to keep things moving without losing control of quality or compliance.

That’s the space GMP Pros operates in.

We help teams navigate the messy middle of implementation—where ex*****on, not strategy, determines whether this thing actually works on the floor.

If you’re in the middle of an MES or eBR implementation (or about to be), you don’t need more slides.

You need people who’ve been there before—and know how to adjust when things don’t go according to plan.

That’s what we do.

There’s a difference between showing up… and actually being in the room where real conversations happen.

This week, Justin Tome was in Boulder at the Rocky Mountain Vendor Show hosted by International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering.

If you’ve been to one of these, you know—it’s not about polished pitches or perfectly rehearsed talking points.

It’s engineers, operators, and leaders having honest conversations about what’s actually going on inside their facilities:

Projects that are behind
Systems that aren’t scaling
Teams that are stretched thin
That’s where the real work starts.

Justin spent the day doing what he does best—listening, asking the right questions, and helping people think through how to move forward when things aren’t as simple as they should be.

He also had a chance to reconnect with our friends at Huffman Engineering. Always good to see familiar faces and catch up with people who care about getting the work done right.

Because at the end of the day, this business isn’t about selling services.

It’s about being the team someone calls when the work gets real.

If you were there, great to connect. If not, we’ll see you at the next one.

Seven years ago, Justin Tome joined GMP Pros.

And he didn’t just start selling.

He started listening.

Justin has never treated business development like a numbers game. He treats it like a responsibility. When he sits down with a client, he’s not thinking about “closing.” He’s thinking about understanding.

What’s really going on?
Where’s the pressure?
What problem actually needs to be solved?

He builds relationships the right way — slowly, honestly, and with follow-through. No hype. No overpromising. Just clarity and commitment.

Over the years, he’s become a trusted partner to the leaders we serve. When something breaks, when timelines compress, when capital plans get complicated — Justin is often the first call. Not because he has all the answers, but because he knows how to bring the right people to the table to solve it.

That’s the difference.

Seven years means he’s grown with us. He’s helped shape how GMP Pros shows up in the market. He’s built trust brick by brick — and he protects that trust fiercely.

Justin, thank you for building real relationships and solving real problems the right way.

Seven years as a Pro. We’re better because you’re here.

For GMP Pros, the goal of great consulting isn’t just to deliver work.
It’s to empower the team doing the work.

When we partner with clients, we bring experience, structure, and ex*****on—but the real win is when their internal team becomes stronger, more confident, and better equipped to run the operation.

We don’t replace the team.

We strengthen it.

And when the work continues, we’re right there alongside them—helping solve problems, improving systems, and supporting the people responsible for getting the right things done.

Four years ago, Nick Belgau joined GMP Pros as a Data Engineer.

And he’s never been one to sit quietly in the room.

Nick speaks up. He challenges assumptions. He asks the question everyone else is thinking but hasn’t voiced yet. Not to be contrarian — but to make the work better. Sharper. More honest.

Early on, we saw real depth in him. The kind of technical horsepower paired with curiosity and discipline.

So we made an investment in his growth and supported him as he earned his Master’s in Data Science.

Not because it sounded impressive.
Because we believed it would translate into real value for our clients.

It has.

Nick builds data science systems that tell the story of how operations are truly performing. Not surface-level dashboards. Not noise. Signal. Clarity. Insight leaders can act on.

He’s obsessive in the best way. If a client already has tools inside their tech stack, he will maximize those applications before recommending anything new. No waste. No unnecessary complexity. Just smart optimization that respects the environment he’s working in.

Today, his work supports a global pharmaceutical company, and what he builds positively impacts their global operations.

That’s leverage.
That’s dividends.

Nick, thank you for leaning into growth, raising the level of thinking in every room you’re in, and proving that investing in people pays off.

Four years as a Pro. We’re proud of the bet we made — and even more proud of the return.

At Pharma MES, Grant Wallace and the GMP Pros team will be sharing the lived experience of implementing Electronic Batch Records inside global pharmaceutical organizations — including what happens when things don’t go exactly as planned.

No death by PowerPoint.
No perfect case studies.

Just the practical realities of EBR implementation and what teams can do to navigate them successfully.

If you’re responsible for digital manufacturing, quality systems, or MES strategy, this will be a conversation worth joining.

Today is International Women’s Day, and I want to recognize someone on our team who represents exactly the kind of leadership and capability this industry needs more of — Catrice Holmes, Project Manager at GMP Pros.

Catrice brings more than a decade of experience navigating the kind of complex, regulated environments that most people only see from the outside. She has worked across global pharmaceutical organizations like Abbott, Novartis, and AbbVie, leading projects, managing cross-functional teams, and driving ex*****on in environments where quality, compliance, and precision matter every single day.

From leading automation projects and coordinating global stakeholders… to driving investigations, managing change control, and ensuring regulatory compliance under FDA quality systems — Catrice knows how to get real work done in real manufacturing environments.

But the thing I admire most about Catrice isn’t just the resume.
She shows up every day with a calm professionalism, a strong sense of accountability, and the ability to bring people together to solve problems. Those are the traits that make great project leaders — and great teammates.

And she does all of that while raising two kids at home.
Anyone who has balanced leadership, career growth, and motherhood knows there is no simple playbook for that. It takes grit, discipline, and a lot of heart.

At GMP Pros we believe great companies are built by great people. Catrice is one of those people.

Today we celebrate her — and the countless women across our industry who are helping build the future of pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Happy International Women’s Day.

GMP Pros' Eric Clark, Justin Tome, and Colton Kulback were at Bio Nebraska's Bio and Beers event this week! 🎉

Bio Nebraska's mission is essentially to grow, connect, and advocate for Nebraska’s bioscience and life sciences industry.

The life sciences industry doesn’t grow by accident. Pharma, biotech, and advanced manufacturing investments tend to cluster in places where the ecosystem is organized, visible, and supported.

Pharma companies don’t evaluate a location based on one factor. They look at the entire environment:

● Universities and research institutions
● Workforce availability
● Manufacturing infrastructure
● Regulatory support
● Suppliers and service partners
● State policy

Leaders like Rob Owen and organizations like Bio Nebraska connect these pieces so the state presents a coherent life sciences ecosystem instead of isolated players.

GMP Pros is proud to be part of that ecosystem. 🪴

During Team Member Appreciation Week, we recognize team members who consistently live the core values that define GMP Pros.

One of those recognitions is the Iron Man Award — and this year the team vote resulted in a tie.

Congratulations to Kyle Swartzendruber and Grant Wallace.

The Iron Man Award is inspired by the endurance and discipline required to complete an Ironman triathlon — a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike ride, and a full 26.2 mile marathon.

No one finishes that race by accident.

It takes preparation.
Consistency.
Mental toughness.
And the ability to keep moving forward when things get difficult.

That same mindset shows up in the kind of work we value at GMP Pros.

Projects get complex.
Timelines get tight.
Unexpected challenges appear.

The people who make the difference are the ones who stay steady, keep solving problems, support their teammates, and continue pushing toward the finish line.

Kyle and Grant embody that kind of endurance.

They show up consistently, take ownership of the work in front of them, and help their teams move forward even when the road gets long.

That’s what the Iron Man Award represents.

Congratulations to both of them on being recognized by their peers.

Well earned.
