Today we recognize Maternal Mental Health Awareness Day, a time to highlight the importance of mental and emotional well-being during pregnancy and throughout the first year after birth. Conditions such as depression, anxiety, and other perinatal mood and anxiety disorders affect many mothers and families, yet they often go unrecognized or untreated. Raising awareness helps reduce stigma, encourages open conversations, and promotes early screening, support, and access to care. Maternal mental health is a critical component of overall maternal and infant health, and supporting mothers supports healthy families and communities.
