Here is a visual depiction of what a person can experience when grieving. It is normal to feel exposed, alone, numb, or even relieved when grieving, and certainly no one person's journey is "typical" in how it is experienced. If you are struggling with feelings and/or exposure to grief, know that you are not alone! Know that you have the right to feel solid ground under your feet once again!!

I have subscribed to Blessing Manifesting since about the New Year, and I have found such peace, grounding, and impactful words that even this counselor needs to be reminded of time after time. I would encourage others to see what this blog has to offer, but I definitely love her words on "How do you define self worth?" In counseling others, self-worth seems to become such a foundational piece--a core aspect--of the pain and hurt that fuels what brings a person to therapy. I firmly believe that all are worthy of more than what is just right in front of them, and utilize that belief in therapy. Take care, and be good to yourself!

There was a time in my life where I thought I could make myself lovable by trying to be useful to other people. If someone was having trouble paying a bill I would offer to pay it for them. If they mentioned they wanted something I would surprise them and buy it for them just because. It wasn’t out of the goodness of my heart, not entirely, it came with the strings that said in big bold letters: Like me because I’m doing this for you. Treat me well because I am doing this for you. Value me. (Link to the blog post in the comments!)

A great blog post about how the "little comments" add up and affect people still today. May is Mental Health Awareness Month, so again, a great post to read to work on .

May is and the National Alliance on Mental Health is promoting a great campaign called . Check out their website to learn more about this specific campaign, but as a Mental Health and Substance Abuse counselor, I want to do my part to help because wounds do not get healed if they remain untreated and open.

Counseling is my Passion...

I enjoy working with clients who struggle with mental health and/or substance use concerns. I believe dealing with life problems involves building up one's "foundation," and gaining healthier alternatives to work through day-to-day challenges. Open-mindedness and willingness are key, and I can aid in strengthening that foundation.

I specialize with adult clients struggling with mental health and/or substance abuse concerns, both seeking help voluntary or through the legal system. I have experience working with co-occurring disorders, and like to focus on distress tolerance/DBT skill set, mindfulness, and other coping interventions.

I have three plus years of experience working in a co-occurring short-term residential treatment facility, as well as group therapy experience. I am certified in ASI/Standardized Format, Motivational Interviewing, ASAM, and have knowledge to work with those grieving a loss, suffering from depression, or struggling with anxiety.
