If you missed Alison's last video, let's chat about it.

It was all about the power of community. The community is one of the three “jewels" of practice that help us to stay on the path when it gets challenging. When we lift each other up, hold each other accountable and share in each others' successes and hardships, we are stronger for it. It makes the work more palatable and the experience more joyful.

In case you were wondering about the other two jewels, they are the teachers and the teachings. Together with the "sangha", the community of practitioners, through this triad, we have the support we need as we commit to the challenging practices of transformation and self-realization.

Have you ever heard of the sangha? It’s probably one of the main reasons you’re drawn to yoga at a studio. Alison breaks it down for us here.

There are many ways to interpret the sound and chant of OM. (in fact we wrote a blog post about it that you can read here: https://onetreeyoga.com/blog/2019/2/4/whats-up-with-om)

One of our favorite interpretations is that OM, actually spelled AUM, represents the full cycle of life A=begining/birth, U=sustaining/living, M=death/ending.

Thank you to the lovely for the beautiful new OM artwork adorning the OTY walls. We will miss you!!

We are so grateful for all of your support on our decision to join in the solidarity movement with Minneapolis and our immigrant brothers and sisters. Thank you all for your kind words.

For those of you who do not agree with this decision, you are our yogis too! We do not want this to feel like a political decision, but rather a human decision. We are all in this together and Yoga is about us working better together through the practice. Through Yoga, we become more reflective, more contemplative, and slower to react. All of these things make interpersonal relationships smoother and our interactions with strangers easier.

May the practice of Yoga lift us all up! We truly believe yoga is for everyone and all are welcome in our space!

OTY is participating in the January 30th national shutdown in solidarity with Minneapolis and our immigrant brothers and sisters. We are doing so by offering free yoga classes all day. We need yoga now more than ever. Please join us this Friday for a healing experience of movement, breath and community.

From the latest blogpost by Gabe:
Everything that you learn in yoga classes belongs to you outside of class. The importance of this cannot be overstated. While we know that you come to class to move your body in community and feel the benefits of a full yoga practice, ultimately, you take away some really important skills that help you navigate challenging times. It’s time to embrace them!
