At Mid Valley Hospital & Clinic, keeping our community informed is one of the most important ways we build trust.

The Washington State Department of Health has confirmed the first human case of H5N5 avian influenza in Washington. We want to be transparent about what we know and what it means for you.

At this time, the risk to the general public remains low.
The patient is receiving care, and state and local health officials are actively investigating the situation.

We’re sharing this update so our community has accurate, timely information—not worry. As we move into flu season, the seasonal flu vaccine remains your best protection, and most people are not at risk for avian flu.

If you raise backyard birds, hunt, or spend time around wildlife, simply avoid contact with sick or dead animals and report unusual wildlife concerns to state agencies.

We will continue to keep you informed as updates become available.

Volunteers help create a warm, welcoming environment by supporting staff, greeting visitors, assisting with projects, and offering comfort to patients and families. No clinical experience needed—just compassion and a willingness to help.

What You Can Do:
