π₯ Let's talk about inflammation. It's a word thrown around so often these days, but WHAT does it really mean? There are 2 types of inflammation. Let me break it down for you in English. π
*Acute inflammation:
It's not all bad! Acute/ short-term inflammation is necessary and constructive. This is a sudden response to a virus or injury to recruit cells to defend and repair. This inflammation leaves when the threat is gone.
*Chronic inflammation:
Ongoing, destructive, and can be brewing internally and causing damage that we're not aware of-until is manifests in an outward way. Chronic inflammation doesn't leave, because the threat is ongoing.
Lifestyle triggers definitely contribute to chronic inflammation - such as unprotected sun exposure, cigarette smoking, too much alcohol, and poor diet. Chronic inflammation can cause pain, red skin, wrinkles, and skin breakouts. Inflammation is one of the biggest contributors to overall aging, degenerative disease, and aging skin! π₯
When we overload our system with poor lifestyle choices, it causes damage to cell membranes, lipids, proteins, and DNA. It is painful. It IS chronic inflammation.
What can we do to rid inflammation?
