You’re getting your steps in… but are you strong?? Resistance training with weights (especially heavier ones), resistance bands, or exercises like squats and lunges (using your bodyweight) helps preserve and enhance muscle strength. Start with simple bodyweight movements or light resistance two to three times a week, then build up to lifting weights heavy enough to exhaust your muscles after 3–6 reps. Strength training should accompany aerobic exercise like walking, jogging, or running. The goal: exercise at least 150 minutes each week to keep your heart healthy.

Try to get most of your protein from healthy, whole foods throughout the day. Meat, seafood, nut milks, cheeses, chickpeas, and legumes are all good sources!
