As we head into Christmas Eve, we have been reflecting on just how much joy these past few weeks have brought. ❤️🎄 Our 12 Days of Christmas has been full of laughter, creativity, and connection through dress up days, friendly contests, and traditions that reminded us why this place truly feels like family.

From our Elf Hunt adventures 🎅✨ to a cozy Hot Cocoa Bar made extra special with the generous help of Gather Coffee Company ☕️, and our very first Cookie Exchange 🍪 which quickly became a favorite and will absolutely be back next year, every moment was filled with fun and lots of heart. Even Elfred McElfie couldn’t resist getting in on the fun and made sure to take part in the cookie exchange too. 😉

We care deeply about the way our team cares for one another and for this community. One of the things we love most about rural healthcare is how we show up for each other in both the big moments and the small, everyday ways. Relationships are what matter to us, and celebrating those connections is part of who we are at Big South Fork Medical Center.

As you may have noticed, we like to do the holidays BIG at Big South Fork Medical Center, and this event was another fun and meaningful part of our holiday celebrations. 🎄🍿

Recently, we treated our team and their families to a free movie night at Capitol 3 Theatre to watch Zootopia 2. It was so special to see everyone relax, laugh, and enjoy time together during such a busy season. Getting to be a small part of those family moments is something we truly value.

Our people take such great care of this community every day, and moments like these are one small way we can give that care right back. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the night so memorable. ❤️

🎄✨ The holidays truly bring out the creativity and generosity of our hospital family. Recently, our teams participated in a festive door decorating contest while also gathering donations for the Scott County Senior Citizens and Friends, and the results were nothing short of amazing.

We were honored to welcome Kathy from the Senior Center along with her granddaughter, who kindly served as our judges and helped us choose a winner. With so many thoughtful and creative displays, it was a very hard decision. Congratulations to our Med Surg team, featuring the incredible creative talents of Connie Burke, for their beautiful pink Candy Land–themed door. 🍭🎁

We are so grateful to Kathy, her granddaughter, and everyone at the Scott County Senior Center for taking the time to join us and for all they do every day to support and care for seniors in our community. Giving back together is what this season is all about. ❤️

Elfred McElfie had another big day at the hospital, and this one came with a little adventure and a small mishap. 🧝‍♂️🩹✨

After climbing a bit too enthusiastically to check out some holiday decorations, Elfred took a tiny tumble and ended up with a pesky little wound that wasn’t healing as fast as elf magic usually allows. That earned him a pair of crutches and a noon appointment at the Wound Care Center to get things back on track.

The good news? Elfred received excellent care from the wound care team, who made him feel comfortable, cared for, and right at home. With expert hands, kind hearts, and just a little elf magic sprinkled in, he’s confident he’ll be back on his feet in no time.

Elfred says this visit reminded him how important specialized wound care is and how grateful he is for the team that helps patients heal every single day.

Stay tuned… because once he’s healed up, there’s no telling where Elfred McElfie might wander next. 🎄💚

Elfred McElfie has been busy again, and he learned some very important lessons along the way. 🧪💊🎄

First stop was the pharmacy, where Elfred discovered just how important medications are in helping patients heal, feel better, and stay on track with their care. He learned that accuracy, safety, and teamwork matter every single day, even during the holidays.

After that, Elfred headed over to the lab to hang out with some truly amazing people who work behind the scenes to provide answers, clarity, and care when patients need it most. From running tests to supporting diagnoses, the lab team keeps everything moving.

Elfred is quickly learning that it takes many caring hands and dedicated hearts to make healthcare work. He’s feeling inspired and grateful for everyone who shows up for our community, especially during this busy season. ❤️✨

Big news… Elfred McElfie has officially leveled up 🎄🩺✨

Thanks to a little North Pole magic, Elfie managed to finish medical school in just one day and is now officially Doctor McElfie. Don’t you think he looks pretty sharp in that white coat? We’re not sure how he crammed years of studying into 24 hours, but when you’re an elf, anything is possible ❄️📚

Now that he’s a doctor, Elfred wasted no time jumping into action. Earlier, you may have spotted him heading to a code with the crash cart, ready to help however he could. As nurse Heather Boutwell perfectly put it:

“He’s cute enough to stop your heart… smart enough to restart it.” ❤️⚡

Doctor McElfie is having the time of his life learning what it takes to care for patients and work alongside our incredible team. His hospital adventure continues, and we can’t wait to see where his medical career takes him next 👀🩺

We are proud to support Shop with a Cop again this year! A program that brings joy, dignity, and hope to local children and families during the holiday season.
Our Shop with a Cop meet and photo felt a little different this year, and we deeply felt the absence of Hal’s presence. Even when resources were limited, Hal reminded us that giving was not about the amount, but about showing up for our community in the right way. We are doing our best to continue the work he loved and believed in through the small but meaningful ways we know how.
Thank you to the Oneida Police Department and to all of the volunteers who give so much of themselves to our community. Your dedication and willingness to show up for others makes a real difference, not just during the holidays but all year long. We are grateful for the care and effort you put into serving our neighbors and supporting families across our community.

Elfred McElfie decided it was time to learn what happens before the care even begins… so off to Registration he went 🎄💻

Elfred was very excited to help welcome patients, get them checked in, and make sure everyone was ready for their visit. He quickly learned how important this role is and how much it helps keep things running smoothly. That said… working with computers might not be his strongest skill 😅⌨️ We’re pretty sure he pressed a few extra buttons along the way, but his enthusiasm definitely made up for it.

One thing is clear. Elfred McElfie is learning that every department plays an important role in caring for our community, and he’s loving every stop on his hospital adventure. Stay tuned to see where he heads next 👀🩺

Elfred McElfie made his way to the Emergency Room and, of course, couldn’t resist testing things out for himself 🚑🎄

After all his recent adventures, Elfred decided he wanted to see what the baby warmer was all about. We’re pretty sure he just wanted to make sure it was nice and cozy and ready to go for those who really need it. Quality control, Elf style 👶✨

Once he warmed up, Elfred took a stroll around the ER and met some new friends - Amanda and Makayla. Then he took some time to admire their Christmas tree, where he had a big moment of inspiration. Between the excellent care, teamwork, and holiday cheer, Elfred decided he might want to be a doctor one day 🩺💙

His hospital journey continues as he learns more about each department and the important role they play in caring for our community. Stay tuned… Elfred McElfie is just getting started 👀🎅
