Robert W. “Bob” Cornish, 88, of Oneida, fondly known as” Cobb”, “Cash Cornish”, “Big Whistle” and “Corn” passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2026. Bob was known as the “Battleship” as he recovered many setbacks from various health issues over six years, finally succumbing to a cardiac episode. He just didn’t want to leave his treasured family and friends.

A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 12pm at St. Joseph’s Church, 121 St. Joseph’s Place, Oneida, where the Rev. Christopher J. Ballard will officiate. Family and friends are invited and may call on Saturday, March 7 from 10:00am-12-:00pm at St. Joseph’s Church, Oneida, NY prior to mass. Private interment with Military Honors will take place in Oneida Castle Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s memory to the IAABO #51 Scholarship Fund, 94 Brook St., Ilion, NY 13357 or the Stanwix Veterans & Men’s Club Scholarship Fund, 6774 Lamphear Rd., Rome, NY, 13440. The family name you have grown to know and trust is expanding, but you can continue to expect the highest quality service for you and your loved one.

Effective January 30, 2026, ownership of Ironside Funeral Home, Inc., located at 342 Main Street, Oneida, New York, has been transferred from Bruce M. Ironside and Kathy G. Ironside to Michelle Ironside Kinville, majority owner, and Bruce M. Ironside, minority owner.

All assets, operations, records, and responsibilities of Ironside Funeral Home, Inc. have been assumed by the new ownership. The funeral home will continue to operate under the name Ironside Family Funeral Homes, Inc., serving families throughout Madison and Oneida Counties and the surrounding communities.

In addition to this ownership transition, Ironside Family Funeral Homes, Inc. has recently purchased the Malecki Funeral Homes in Sherrill and Vernon. These locations are now proudly part of the Ironside Family Funeral Homes, Inc., allowing us to continue and expand the long-standing tradition of compassionate, community-focused service that families have trusted for generations.

As a family-owned and family-operated funeral home, our commitment remains unchanged. For more than forty years, the Ironside Family has been honored to serve families in their times of need with compassion, dignity, and personal care. Under this new generation of family leadership, we proudly continue that tradition of "Our family proudly serving your family", with the same values, dedication, and trust the community has come to know.

Formal letters will be forthcoming to all individuals and families who have prearrangements with either Ironside Funeral Home or Malecki Funeral Home. These letters will provide additional information and reassurance that all prearranged services, contracts, and wishes remain secure and fully honored without interruption.
