Let’s come together! Our Food & Hygiene Drive runs through Friday, November 21 to support our neighbors during this time.

We invite you to participate by donating non-perishable food items and essential hygiene products if you can. Collection bins are available at designated locations in both Madison and Cortland counties. Your generous donations will go directly to individuals and families in need within our communities.

Donation Locations:
• Bancroft Building – 701 Lenox Avenue, Oneida
• Main Street Office – 165 Main Street, Oneida
• Lewandowski Building – 634 Birchwood Drive, Oneida
• Winoa Hall Activity Center – 719 Lenox Avenue, Oneida

This week's from 1985 shows supporters at a rally in Albany. A fitting throwback since next Tuesday, the 18th, is the NYDA Capitol Rally in Albany! This rally is a call to action to invest in the future of individuals with Intellectual or developmental disabilities and the people that support them. We hope to see lots of people in attendance!

For the last day of National Disability Employment Month, we have one more hard-working individual to share with you! Meet Brittany, who is a part of the Pre-Vocational Employment Training Program here at The Arc Madison Cortland. Pre-Voc entails preparing individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary to seek and maintain employment outside of the agency. While attending Pre-Voc three days a week, Brittany works at Alternatives Industry, performing a variety of tasks similar to those of our production associates. Some of Brittany’s tasks include tabbing boxes and packaging cheese bags.

Brittany has learned a great deal during her time at Pre-Voc, including the importance of socialization, flexibility, and accepting constructive criticism. Brittany is proud of her improvement in box assembly and her overall hard work!

As part of Pre-Voc, Brittany also held an internship-like position at both the YMCA and Clear Path for Veterans. At the YMCA, she performed janitorial work, which involved a variety of cleaning tasks, and at Clear Path, she was involved in kitchen work, which involved extensive food preparation. Brittany will soon be starting a paid position that involves a similar food prep skill set, so she will be able to put her knowledge to good use.

After a day of work, Brittany likes to go home and watch TV, especially Hallmark movies; she is already getting into the Christmas spirit. On weekends, she enjoys visiting her parents' house and spending time with her nephews. Brittany is a great member of the Pre-Voc team, and we are excited to see where her new opportunities will lead her!

Two of our Arc Advocates, Tracy and Ashley traveled to Binghamton to attend the STIC Self-Advocate Conference and assist Professor Taylor with her presentation. They even won some raffles!
