We would like to extend our sincere appreciation and gratitude to The Amish Barn Company (ABC) for their generous contribution toward the cost of our new storage shed. This shed will play a vital role in housing durable medical equipment that we lend to members of our community, helping to support independence and accessibility.

This marks the second time The Amish Barn Company has stepped forward to support our Center in such a meaningful way, and we are truly thankful for their continued partnership and commitment to our mission.

We are also proud to share that The Empower Hour with Don Wyckoff is now sponsored by The Amish Barn Company.

Their dedication to quality craftsmanship, attention to detail, and exceptional customer service truly sets them apart as Oneonta’s premier builder of sheds and outbuildings. We are honored to recognize them not only as valued partners, but as trusted friends of our organization.

Thank you, Senator Oberacker, for your support. The Catskill Center for Independence and those we represent depend on you. Even if you did mistake me for an assembly member!

It is evident that the significant impact of Independent Living Centers (ILCs) on the disabled community is not matched by sufficient funding and representation in the budget, despite their proven value. This call to action is particularly relevant for those who know someone with a disability.

Our Independent Living Center's help ANYONE with a disability and their families. We save the State millions and millions of dollars each year by providing the services our Government does not. Each year the cost of living & operating costs goes higher, yet we continually get underfunded and are often the first programs to be cut.

You can help by reaching out to your representatives or flooding the Governors office with us Monday February 9, 2026 at the Legislative Office Building in Albany. If you or someone you know have a disability, please share this!

Gov. Kathy Hochul’s budget cuts $750,000 in funding from Independent Living Centers (ILC).

The Trump administration sent hundreds of letters Tuesday terminating federal grants supporting mental health and drug addiction services. The cuts could total as much as $2 billion.

We love when inovators take on the task of making accessibility more "sexy". It encourages folks to get out there and not worry about the stigma as much as the opportunity to engage in their communities!

Many older people would rather risk falling than use walkers, but what if you could build one that's sexy?
