How it works:

1. Visit southerntierconnect.org/scavenger-hunt to find the appropriate scavenger hunt flyer—staff, member, or provider/friend of STC.
2. Navigate the website to find the answers.
3. Submit your answers by using the button on the scavenger hunt page or flyer by December 17th! A winner in each category (member, provider/friend, and staff) will be announced by email on December 22nd for a $50 gift card!

The CCM will develop and oversee a Life Plan with each member, supporting them in developing individualized goals. The ideal candidate is organized and passionate about working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Southern Tier Connect (STC) member Danielle recently attended the Advocates for Autism Club Nite in Binghamton! This event safely introduces people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to the rite of passage of attending a club or bar with friends. STC CCM Rhonda White and Helping Celebrate Abilities (HCA) staff member Hailey Frailey joined Danielle for a fun night out!

Before heading out, the group discussed what they would wear for the evening. Hailey also introduced Danielle to important safety measures, such as never leaving your drink unattended, tipping the bartender, and always going out with a friend.

The group enjoyed their night with mocktails and friends! Advocates for Autism hosts these events twice a year; the next takes place in February, with no cover charge and mocktails available for $1 each.

On November 11th, the day World War I ended in 1918, we celebrate Veterans Day. This holiday reminds us to honor those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, in peace and wartime.

You can mark the day by:
🎊 Attending a Veterans Day parade or ceremony in your community
🙏 Thank a veteran for their service
🌱 Volunteer at a charity that supports veterans
✉️ Write a thank you card to a veteran
🎁 Donate to a charity that supports veteran well-being

Garrison, STC member, recently won second place in the Cerebral Palsy (CP) State Art Contest! He showcased his diamond art piece of a hummingbird, featuring the inspiring message: “Progress is like a hummingbird: It hums with quiet intensity and is deceptively powerful as it reshapes the world one vibrant flutter at a time.” What an incredible piece of art.

STC member Andrew recently received a stair chair to make his home more accessible! With help from his CCM, Diana Sprague-Gallagher, Andrew secured funding through the OPWDD Environmental Modifications assistance program.

Before receiving the stair chair, Andrew needed support ascending and descending the stairs to his home. Andrew is always striving to gain more independence, and this project was an important milestone in meeting the many goals he sets for himself.

CCMs, like Diana, are an incredible resource to members, providing information on funding sources and working behind the scenes to help members reach their goals.

Southern Tier Connect was busy this Spooky season, attending many festive events!

Throughout October, STC employees participated in several trunk-or-treats, bringing their best costumes and decorations each time. From spooky costumes to magical-themed trunks, STC employees’ care and dedication to their communities were evident in every shared moment.

We understand that many members are concerned about receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in November. Since the government shut-down began on October 1st, 2025, government-provided services have been limited.

As of November 3rd, SNAP benefits have not been released in November. We understand that this may create challenges in accessing food and other essential resources. Please reach out to your CCM and check your email for links to available resources and updates.

Even after the SNAP benefits are restored, the need for access to high-quality food continues. That is why STC employees volunteer year-round at local food banks, helping to strengthen and support our communities. We are here for you during this challenging time to ensure you have access to the resources you need.

Thank you to everyone who joined STC for Springbrook’s 5K Monster Dash & Fall Festival!

It was a wonderful fall day filled with clever costumes, healthy competition, and lots of smiles along the race. We loved seeing everyone join in on the fun with their friends and family.
