This page will be used to promote the mission of RP-1, Texas until it can reopen as an "RP-1 Veteran Entrepreneur Project". Everyone has those, right? Well these were a nice couple with a small child, 2 dogs, and 3 horses. That normally takes some work, but these folks were moving about 1,500 miles away to Las Vegas, NV. They came to me inquiring if I knew anyone in the livestock transportation bu
siness. And as much as we tried, we couldn't find anyone. I told them that if they could find me a suitable trailer, I would make the haul for them. So they asked if I knew where they could lease a trailer. We made some calls with no luck. We all asked everybody we could think of, and came up empty-handed. I had an old trailer. It wasn't very visually appealing, but it pulled great and it had a new floor. At the time, it had 2 flat tires, and no working lights. So when it seemed like all hope was lost for these folks, I spent 3 days getting this trailer up to standard. I spent a week on the road to Vegas and back. Along the way, I did a lot of contemplating (what else are you gonna do driving across the desert?). I came to a few different conclusions.
1. I like driving when I can avoid stand-still traffic.
2. There are a lot of folks who own large animals and have no trailer to get them anywhere when they need to get there.
3. I've been working with animals for years and I love everything having to do with them.
4. I love the feeling you get when you help someone.
5. There really aren't too many Livestock Transportation Service Providers.
6. You may get lucky, and get a hold of someone who happens to have some time and the means to move your animals if you give them a little gas/beer money, but you can't find a lot of trustworthy, dependable professionals who do it for a living. And that is who you really should trust your animals with. So, I came home and founded an LLC. This company is still in it's infancy, but it is shaping up to be something larger than I ever imagined it could be. And the main reason for that is the happy clients waving in the rearview. Now, before you ask me to take a horse from Oklahoma to California for $200, let me describe what we do. We are "Specialty Livestock Logistics". That trip to Vegas was what spurred this whole organization, but we don't do cross country hauling. If that's what you need, we can point you in the right direction. No, what we do is different. We only operate in Texas. Our focus is on the individual local livestock owners and their needs. You need to make an appointment with your vet, but you can't get your animal to them? Your animal has an emergency medical issue? Call us 24/7. You are planning a play day but your horse needs a ride? Are you getting the picture? We are who you call for your day-to-day needs. We are here to make livestock ownership more feasible for the individual. Just imagine us as your animal's taxi/ambulance.
