Meet Katelyn!! 🤩 Katelyn is from Charlotte, NC and has a Bachelor's in Exercise Science from the University of Houston. She moved to Charleston, SC to pursue a Doctorate of Physical Therapy and graduated in 2023. She immediately started working in pediatrics as an early intervention physical therapist and loves helping kids and their families reach their goals. In 2024, Katelyn moved to Auburn to work in children's ministry at a local church along with continuing her PT career at Auburn Pediatric Physical Therapy. When Katelyn is not working she enjoys serving on medical mission trips, exploring national parks with her family, and cheering on the Clemson Tigers. We are so excited and have loved having Katelyn on our team! 🎉

The women’s ministry at Trinity Methodist Church is hosting a “Shower for God’s Children” on Saturday, February 15th. This shower benefits the Pediatric Unit at EAMC, helping donate clothing, toys, and other supplies needed. Everyone is invited and below is a link to RSVP or to view the registry. A lot of kids leave the pediatric unit and then make their way to our clinic for outpatient therapy needs but being able to make their stay on the pediatric unit easier is another way to serve these kids and families! I got some ideas from the smartest OTs to make this sensory gift guide! Kids participate, learn, and play their best when their body feels regulated. Here are a few gift ideas to help kids feel their best so they can focus on doing amazing things!

Christmas for my low vision friends! Toys with lights are really beneficial because the light can capture the child’s limited visual attention. Using the lights against a dark background or in a darker room can help create a contrast that helps draw even more attention. Toys for kids with low vision should also help engage their other senses, for example, toys with a variety of textures and toys that make noise or move. Here are a few of my favorite toys to use in therapy!  I will add links to each of these toys in my story! (I feel confident that there is a more efficient way to post this, but PT is my thing, not technology! Apologies!)

No rest for those weary parents! Now that Halloween is over, it’s time to start getting ready for Christmas. Stay tuned for gift guides (and hopefully some prime deals!) of our favorite toys to help your littles with development! We will do some gifts guides for specific age ranges, but will also try to post some guides for more specific needs, like gifts for kids with visual impairments or sensory needs!
