We are proud to highlight our ongoing research project, “Biomechanical Ergonomic Assessment for Injury Prevention in Healthcare Professionals.”

Funded through the AUBE Seed Grant, this collaborative initiative between VCOM and Auburn University brings together Auburn’s Department of Mechanical Engineering and Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering to advance interdisciplinary innovation.

At EAH, this work is made possible through the partnership of our Clinical Research Office and our dedicated Internal Medicine Residents, who play a key role in study ex*****on and data collection. Together, the team is working to better understand the physical demands on healthcare professionals and identify evidence-based ergonomic solutions that support long-term wellness and injury prevention.

📣 Want to get involved? We are now recruiting participants. East Alabama Health healthcare professionals interested in participating can contact the Clinical Research Office for more information at research@eamc.org.

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, a reminder that learning about prevention and screening can save lives.

Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths among men and women in the U.S., and risk increases with age. Because symptoms are often minimal, regular screening starting at age 45 is essential. When detected early, colorectal cancer is highly treatable, and even preventable when precancerous polyps are found and removed.

You can also lower your risk by:
✔️ Eating a low-fat, high-fiber diet
✔️ Limiting alcohol
✔️ Avoiding to***co
✔️ Exercising at least 20 minutes, 3–4 days per week

Prevention starts with awareness. Learn more here: www.eastalabamahealth.org/services/cancer-care/cancers-we-treat/colorectal-cancer.
