Your shoulder takes on more than you think—and the AC joint is right at the center of it all.

The acromioclavicular (AC) joint is where your collarbone meets the highest point of your shoulder blade. It plays a key role in overhead movements, lifting, and everyday activities—but it’s also one of the most commonly injured parts of the shoulder.

AC joint injuries (often called “shoulder separations”) can happen from falls, direct impact, or sports-related contact. Symptoms may include pain at the top of the shoulder, swelling, limited motion, or a visible bump.

While many AC joint injuries can be treated with immobilization and rehab, more severe separations may require surgery. Our sports medicine specialists have the expertise to get you put back together and on the road to recovery—safely and effectively.

Don’t ignore shoulder pain—early evaluation can make all the difference in recovery and long-term function.

Posture matters more than you think 👀

Slouching doesn’t just affect how you look—it can lead to real issues like neck and back pain, headaches, low energy, and even a higher risk of injury over time.

The good news? Small adjustments can make a big difference.

✔ Sit up tall
✔ Keep your shoulders back
✔ Take breaks and move often

If pain is already setting in, don’t ignore it—early treatment can help prevent long-term problems.

Take care of your body now so it can take care of you later. 💪

Bone of the week🦴: Elbow

Your elbow might seem simple, but it’s actually where three bones come together: the humerus (upper arm), radius, and ulna (forearm). This joint allows you to bend, straighten, and rotate your arm—movements you use constantly throughout the day.

Because it’s involved in so many repetitive motions, the elbow is especially prone to overuse injuries like tennis elbow and golfer’s elbow—and no, you don’t have to play sports to get them.

Common signs something isn’t right:
• Pain when gripping or lifting
• Stiffness or limited motion
• Tenderness on the inside or outside of the elbow

Whether it’s from the gym, work, or everyday activities, elbow pain shouldn’t be ignored. Early treatment can make all the difference in recovery and getting you back to what you love.

Did you know your knee is the largest joint in the body—and one of the most commonly injured?

Every step, squat, jump, and pivot puts stress on your knees, which is why they’re so important to protect. Whether you’re an athlete or just staying active day-to-day, small habits can make a big difference.

✔ Stay consistent with strength training
✔ Don’t skip your warm-ups
✔ Listen to your body when something feels off

Taking care of your knees now can help prevent bigger problems down the road. If pain, swelling, or instability starts to stick around, it may be time to get it checked.

⛳️ With The Masters Tournament approaching, golf is on the mind for a lot of us 👀

But whether you’re playing 18 holes or just hitting the range, it’s important to remember—golf isn’t as low-impact as it looks.

Common golf injuries we see:
• Golfer’s elbow
• Low back strain
• Rotator cuff injuries
• Knee pain

All that twisting, swinging, and repetition can take a toll on your body over time.

🏌️‍♂️ The pros make it look effortless—but behind the scenes, they’re prioritizing strength, mobility, and recovery to stay in the game.

If you’re feeling sore after a round or noticing pain that isn’t improving, don’t brush it off as “just golf.” Getting ahead of it early can keep you on the course longer.

🦴 Bone of the Week: Scaphoid

Don’t let its size fool you—the scaphoid plays a big role in how your wrist moves and functions.

📍 Found on the thumb side of your wrist
❗️Commonly injured during a fall onto an outstretched hand
⚠️ Easy to overlook, but important to catch early

Signs to pay attention to:
• Pain near the base of your thumb
• Tenderness when you press into the wrist
• Weakness or discomfort with gripping

🩻 Here’s what makes it tricky:
Scaphoid fractures don’t always show up on the first X-ray. Sometimes, an MRI is required to show this fracture.

🚨 Because of its limited blood supply, a scaphoid injury may not heal properly without treatment.

If your wrist pain is sticking around—don’t ignore it. Getting it checked early can make all the difference!

Happy National Doctors Day! 🩺

Today we’re celebrating the incredible physicians who show up every day to care for our patients and community.

At TOC, our doctors bring 86 years of combined experience to the table and perform a high volume of procedures each year —placing them well above (85%) the national average among orthopedists.

Why does that matter? Experience isn’t just about time—it’s about repetition, precision, and confidence. When physicians treat a wide range of cases regularly, they develop sharper decision-making skills, more refined techniques, and the ability to handle both routine and complex conditions with greater ease. That level of expertise can lead to more accurate diagnoses, smoother procedures, and better overall outcomes for patients.

We’re proud to have a team that combines knowledge, skill, and dedication to provide the highest level of care.

Join us in thanking our doctors today and every day! 👏
