I had the honor and privilege of being the Project Director of the Where We Live: Opelousas Neighborhoods Project.
What makes this photo exhibit special is that it is not told from one voice or one point of view. It is told through the lenses of community members â long-time residents, newer residents, visitors, and those who simply love Opelousas and St. Landry Parish.
The photographs come from neighborhoods like Brickyard, The Hill, North End, South Park, and many others. Each image reflects how someone experiences home.
Today, for the exhibit's opening, folks came out through the rain and the cold, the attendance was phenomenal! I want to thank our leaders, photography leads and instructors, and our workshop hosts who opened doors, shared space, and helped teach others how to use their camera phones and see their surroundings in new ways. This truly has been a collaborative and community-driven effort.
