Can't pour from an empty cup?.. actually ...
You can!
Why? Because you aren't the filler of the cup!
Do you remember the story of the woman at the well in John 4? He reminds her, "Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” (verses 13-14)
You are connected in the Word to God. You don't need to be full to love on others... just obedient.
When you are only trying to fill yourself with, or by, yourself - it isn't a filling substance - we only notice emptiness.
We need rest, yes, but we don't have to push pause on loving and serving others - it just might look differently.
