🧡 Gratitude Overflowing at OCFC! 🧡

We’re sending heartfelt thanks to the Orange Seventh-day Adventist Church Congregation for their incredible donation of food collected during their annual Food Drive. Their ongoing support—through time, effort, and deep dedication—continues to uplift our Clinic and the community we serve.

This generous gift filled our Food Tables and shelves, ensuring that patients have access to nourishing support. Special thanks to Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s in Charlottesville for donating the bags that carried this kindness forward.

Together, we’re building a healthier, more compassionate Orange County. 💚

Yesterday, Orange County Free Clinic joined fellow healthcare advocates for a powerful conversation with Senator Tim Kaine about the urgent needs facing our communities.

Hosted by the Charlottesville Free Clinic, the meeting centered on the critical role Free Clinics play in bridging gaps in care, especially as Medicaid cuts continue to leave many Virginians with nowhere else to turn. Access and affordability aren’t just policy issues...they’re daily realities for our patients.

Senator Kaine’s questions were insightful, compassionate, and grounded in a deep understanding of the challenges we face. We’re grateful for his time, his listening ear, and his commitment to healthcare equity.

Thank you to Senator Kaine and his staff for engaging with us, and
for bringing us together. These conversations matter, and so do the people we serve.

Providers pressed Kaine on Medicaid cuts, staffing shortages, and what those mean for families who rely on free clinics.

đź’¬ What does it mean to have a hot, healthy meal when you're hungry? Senator Mark Warner joined Dorren Brown, OCFC Executive Director, and other community partners at the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank in Charlottesville to spotlight food insecurity in Orange County and across Central Virginia.

OCFC is stepping up with its new Food Pharmacy Program, built on the belief that Food is Medicine. Thanks to a new partnership with the BRAFB, patients at the Clinic are receiving thoughtfully selected food—nutritious groceries that meet their health needs and help them feel better.

This program doesn’t replace Orange County’s irreplaceable Food Pantries, but adds a layer of support for patients with chronic conditions who often face empty pantry cabinets.

Plans are underway to grow, as funding is available, the small space carved out at the Clinic and reach even more patients during their clinic visits...From food to education, we’re working to help patients feel better... starting with what’s on their plate.❤️👩🏻‍⚕️
