This is why we emphasize a collaborative approach to breast cancer diagnoses, what we call a treatment planning conference, where our network of oncologists, surgeons and other specialists discuss each patient’s case and work to develop a coordinated treatment plan to maximize the chance of a cure. Each patient is unique; an appropriate treatment plan must be personalized for you. Conversations between patients and our breast-dedicated professionals help us grow to understand each patient’s unique story. Patients, and their families, will have every question answered the first day you walk through our doors. There truly is no such thing as a “bad” question. Breast ultrasound plays an important role in breast imaging. 🌌
Here are 3 reasons why you might need an ultrasound instead of—or in addition to—a mammogram:

1. To take a closer look at something seen on a mammogram.
If a mammogram shows an area that needs more detail, an ultrasound can help determine whether it’s a solid mass, cyst, or normal tissue change.

2. For patients with dense breast tissue. Dense breasts can make it harder for mammograms to detect small abnormalities. Ultrasound can provide another layer of imaging, helping radiologists see through dense tissue more clearly.

3. When a lump is felt but not visible on a mammogram. If you or your doctor feel something that doesn’t show up clearly on a mammogram, ultrasound is often used to evaluate that area further.

The largest real-world analysis of AI-powered breast cancer screening in US history is out today. Published in Nature Health, the study shows how the AI-powered workflow at the heart of RadNet’s Enhanced Breast Cancer Detection™ program is enabling an astounding leap forward in breast cancer detection.

This workflow, enabled by applications within DeepHealth’s Breast Suite (including AI-powered Safeguard Review), led to a 21.6% increase in cancer detection for nearly 580,000 women across 109 community-based breast cancer screening sites at RadNet.

BI-RADS 6 - Known biopsy-proven malignancy, Appropriate action should be taken
This category is only used for findings on a mammogram (or ultrasound or MRI) that have already been shown to be cancer by a previous biopsy. Imaging may be used in this way to see how well the cancer is responding to treatment.
