E-bikes are a fun and efficient way for kids and teens to get around, but they also come with new safety challenges.

At CHOC, we’re committed to helping families stay safe through education, advocacy and community partnerships that prevent childhood injuries before they happen.

As the lead agency for Safe Kids Orange County, California, CHOC works with local hospitals, schools, and first responders to address top causes of injury — from car crashes and drownings to falls and bicycle incidents.

This Injury Prevention Day, we’re reminding families to take these simple steps for e-bike safety:
• Always wear a properly fitted helmet
• Follow local traffic laws and ride in designated bike lanes
• Make sure e-bikes are the right size and speed for your child’s age and experience
• Stay visible with lights and bright clothing

Together, we can make every ride a safe one.

We are committed to making sure that our patients and families have special items to make their holidays in the hospital a little brighter.

If you would like to help, it is preferable that donations be made through our online wish list at https://choc.org/child-life/toy-book-donations/ There, you can choose what hospital location you wish to make your donation to.

We will also accept physical contributions at the hospital during these dates:
December 8-11 from 10am-4pm
December 15-18 from 10am-4pm

If your donation is larger than 50 toys (or the amount that would fit in a car), please make arrangements through toydonation@choc.org.

Preserve the Magic of Childhood

At CHOC Children’s, we’ve assembled a mighty brigade of experts dedicated to caring for children, whether they’re healthy or seriously ill.

Long Live Childhood is our mantra. We live it. We breathe it. We practice it. Every day. In every way.

We are always kind and always caring. We are ever-hopeful as we persevere. We are a world-class care community of pediatric medical specialists. And we want every sick child to experience the joy and wonder of childhood, like any other kid.

We are relentless in our efforts to keep kids healthy. Because we believe nothing should put childhood on pause.
