This morning we were joined by Hpcanys Albany NY and Assemblyman Patrick Chludzinski as well as other hospice leaders and advocates from across Western New York to support bipartisan legislation that would protect nonprofit hospice care in New York State.

The bill, now before Governor Kathy Hochul would prohibit the creation of new for-profit hospices. Research has shown that for-profit hospice programs provide fewer clinical visits, admit fewer complex patients, and offer fewer community benefits. Nonprofit hospice programs exist to serve patients and families, not shareholders, and today’s press conference underscored the importance of keeping that mission strong.

Our Chief Clinical Operations Officer, Cary Sisti, and CEO & Chief Medical Officer, Christopher Kerr, MD, PhD spoke alongside statewide and local leaders about why safeguarding nonprofit hospice care is essential for quality, access, and community trust. We’re proud to stand with our partners across the region to ensure that families continue to have high-quality, nonprofit hospice care they can rely on.

It was our honor to host the amazing team from Essential Care for Children from Hospice & Palliative Care Buffalo at WNY Compassion Connection. Together, we share a mission to walk alongside families with empathy, understanding, and care through illness, loss, and healing. We’re so grateful for the meaningful work they do and for the opportunity to learn from one another as we seek to strengthen the circle of support for our community’s grieving families. 💙🫶

What a spooktacular night! Joy, laughter, and togetherness filled the Education Center on our Milch-Mitchell Campus during the Essential Care for Children Halloween Bash! Families enjoyed creative costumes, festive food, face painting, amazing balloon entertainment and a bubble show - but most importantly, the chance to connect with others who share similar experiences. It was a night full of fun, meaning, and community spirit- a beautiful reminder of the care and connection at the heart of our Essential Care for Children program.

Special thanks to the Making Memories That Last Forever for their generous sponsorship and to the wonderful businesses who helped make this bootiful evening possible: Wow_party_buffalo / Mayer Brothers / Papa’s Pizzeria / Badding Farm Market & Garden Center / Big Al's Balloons / Buffalo Face Paint. Because of your support, our families created invaluable memories to cherish all season long!
