Death investigation underway after vehicle recovered from small lake

April 12, 2026 at 11:12:31 AM PDT
Date: 04/12/2026
CCSO Case Number: 26-006809
Around 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2026, deputies responded to a water rescue near the 15000 block of South Kirk Road in unincorporated Clackamas County after witnesses called 911 to report a vehicle had gone into the water. When deputies arrived, they found the vehicle fully submerged in a small lake.
Several agencies responded, including Clackamas Fire District 1, American Medical Response, the Clackamas County Water Rescue Consortium, and the Sheriff’s Office Dive Team.
Divers found the only occupant inside the vehicle. Despite rescue efforts, the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Clackamas County Medical Examiner’s Office also responded to the scene.
Investigators are working to understand what led up to the vehicle entering the water.
Out of respect for the family, the person’s identity is not being released at this time.
The Clackamas County Water Rescue Consortium is a partnership between Clackamas Fire District 1, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, Lake Oswego Fire Department, and Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue. Together, they share personnel and resources to respond to water rescues across Clackamas County.

Thank you for this safety tip, South County Fire!

Thank you for this safety tip, South County Fire!

As the weather gets nicer, we start opening windows to let in fresh air. Unfortunately, this is also when we see an increase in children falling from windows.

In Snohomish County last year, 12 children fell from second and third-story windows. Thankfully, no deaths were reported, but these incidents remain a serious concern in our community. With your help and awareness, we can prevent window falls.

What to Know:
• A screen is meant to keep bugs out, not kids in. A child pushing on a screen can easily fall through.

What to Do:
• Install window stops to prevent windows from opening more than 4 inches.
• Move furniture away from windows.

Free window stops are available to families who need them, thanks to generous grant funding.

We don't usually repost missing items, but this is necessary:

"If you stole the prosthetic equipment from the car parked in the Best Western O.C., the owner of the brand new equipment is offering a $500 reward and will not press charges. If anyone has any info you can contact the O.C. Police."

Thank you!

This is wonderful!
