We have been busy setting up for the 5th Annual Art Dash at the beautiful The River’s Edge Experience today. Three cheers to James Brown and Karen Virnoche for their invaluable leadership, to our artists (the art is spectacular), to the volunteers galore who make it all work, and to the Serenity staff for direction and expertise.

Dawn Pregont, LSW (Licensed Social Worker) from Serenity Hospice & Home, leads a monthly caregiver support group at the Rock River Center in Oregon, IL.

Being a caregiver for a loved one can be challenging, emotional, and overwhelming. Join our confidential group, and we support you in your caregiving role by:

• Discussing challenges and successes without judgment
• Teaching you how to manage responsibilities and emotions
• Exchanging experiences and coping strategies
• Providing emotional support, reassurance, and practical advice from trained facilitators & peers
• Providing self-care recommendations.

We welcome those new to caregiving, those who anticipate caregiving, and those for whom caregiving is already a way of life. You will find information, resources, encouragement & answers to difficult questions.

Our meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of the month from 10:00-11:30 a.m. at Rock River Center. Stop by to Visit and listen, OR Share if you like.

We love our volunteers!

Serenity enjoyed being at the Lifescape AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP Volunteer Fairs in Rockford and Dixon yesterday (4/2/2026). Thank you to our staff and volunteers (Deloris, Deb, Carol, and Stephanie) for dodging the rain and inviting people to learn more about volunteering with Serenity.

We are again humbled by the support of our community. Prairie Brome Solar granted Serenity $1,000 to support our bereavement and caregiver work throughout Lee County. Adam and Anne-Marie stopped by the Serenity Home in Oregon, IL, yesterday to learn more about the services we provide and to award us this generous grant. Thank you again to Prairie Brome Solar and all those who continue to support our hospice and palliative care services.

We want to deeply thank the 𝐁𝐲𝐫𝐨𝐧 𝐊𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐮𝐬 #𝟒𝟕𝟑𝟗 and St. Mary Catholic Church for their popular and outstanding fish fry opportunities throughout Lent. So many Serenity staff and volunteers enjoyed participating and seeing the enthusiasm of all those who cooked, served, cleaned, and more. Thank you for raising awareness and funds for Serenity's hospice and palliative care work throughout Northwest Illinois.
