Yes, the flame cremation process is not green. We are not there yet as an industry, culture and even social norms not reached this topic, at least in the U.S. and form most of the world, especially where cremation is not part of a religious right. Though this is an opportunity to expand on. First, traditional burial has the highest impact on the environment along with its permanent foot print within the earth. Cremation's impact is not green, the industry has developed flameless or water cremation that is being practice is a select few states. What green burial offers in parity with flame cremation is the disposition or interment of the remains, biodegradable urns. Tree burial is still in the acceptance or (not) stage and still being studied, as is human composting. In addition, we did offer the mushroom burial suit, though it is also continued to be studied on the ability to transform the decay into the claims based on mushroom application for decomposition. Most natural, and as mentioned, would be direct human composting, and shroud burial, but you will have your critics in regards to these methods also (as with any green burial option) specifically focused on sanitary condition concerns, into water table supplies and the like.
