Skills do.

If you feel like:
– your emotions take over

This is where that changes.

A lot of people don’t struggle because they don’t understand what’s going on…

They struggle because when the moment hits—
the emotion is too strong,
too fast,
or too overwhelming to use what they “know.”

That’s where skills come in. Something you can ACTUALLY do!

We’re starting a small Adult DBT Skills Group in Orland Park on April 13th at 6 PM (meets Mondays + Thursdays for 10 weeks).

This is for adults who:

feel overwhelmed by their emotions
overreact, shut down, or spiral
keep repeating the same relationship patterns
need real tools—not just more insight

This group teaches you exactly what to do in the moment:
✔️ regulate emotions
✔️ tolerate distress
✔️ communicate more effectively
✔️ break patterns that keep you stuck

We keep it small on purpose, so spots are limited. Phone coaching included!

If you’ve been thinking “I need something different”—this is that.

Feel free to message here, call 708-949-8688 ext. 0, or sign up at https://personalbalancecounseling.com/pbc-registration/register-for-dbt-groups/

💛 What is Self-Compassion?

Self-compassion means treating yourself with the same kindness and understanding you’d offer a friend — especially during tough times.

It involves:
✨ Self-Kindness – Be gentle, not critical.
🌎 Common Humanity – Remember, everyone struggles sometimes.
🧘‍♀️ Mindfulness – Notice your feelings without judgment.

Practicing self-compassion can reduce stress, boost resilience, and support emotional well-being. 🌸

Does your teen struggle with BIG emotions?

Many teens today are dealing with:

• high anxiety
• intense emotional reactions
• shutting down or avoiding stressful situations
• difficulty communicating their needs
• conflict with friends or family
• coping in ways that make things worse later

Most teens were never actually taught how to manage overwhelming emotions.

That’s where Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills can make a big difference.

Our Teen DBT Skills Group helps teens learn practical tools for:

✔ managing emotions
✔ coping with anxiety and stress
✔ communicating more effectively
✔ building healthier relationships

🌿 What Growth Really Means

Growth isn’t about being perfect — it’s about becoming more aware, resilient, and aligned with your true self.

In therapy, growth looks like:
✨ Recognizing patterns and emotions
💭 Learning to manage feelings in healthy ways
🧩 Making sense of past experiences
💛 Treating yourself with compassion through setbacks

Every small step forward counts. Growth is a journey, not a destination. 🌸

🌸 How to Embrace Growth

Growth isn’t always comfortable — it often asks us to let go, reflect, and begin again. 🌱

Here are gentle ways to embrace it:
✨ Be patient with your process.
🌿 Celebrate small wins.
💛 Learn from setbacks — they’re part of progress.
🕯️ Stay curious about yourself.
🌻 Surround yourself with support and encouragement.

Remember: growth doesn’t happen overnight — it unfolds when you give yourself grace and space to evolve. 💫
