🌊 Ride the Wave 🌊

Emotions are like waves—they rise, peak, and eventually fade. The Ride the Wave skill from DBT reminds us that feelings are temporary and don’t have to control our actions.

Instead of fighting or avoiding emotions, notice them, breathe through them, and allow them to pass. 💙

Just like waves in the ocean, emotions come and go—you are strong enough to ride them. 🌊✨

💭 What is Distress Tolerance?

Distress tolerance is the skill of getting through tough emotions without making the situation worse. Instead of reacting impulsively, you learn how to cope safely until the storm passes. 🌧️➡️☀️

✨ DBT Distress Tolerance Skills include:

Cooling down with TIPP skills (breathing, exercise, cold water)

Distraction with healthy activities

Self-soothing with your senses

Practicing Radical Acceptance

You can’t always control what happens—but you can choose how you respond. 💛

🌥️ Coping with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) 💛

The shorter, darker days can affect mood and energy—but small daily habits can make a big difference:

✨ Spend time outdoors, even on cloudy days
✨ Try light therapy (sun lamp)
✨ Keep a regular sleep routine
✨ Move your body—exercise boosts mood
✨ Stay connected with loved ones
✨ Reach out for support if you need it

Remember—you’re not alone, and help is available. 🌞

🌥️ Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is more than just the “winter blues.”
It’s a form of depression that often appears in the fall and winter when sunlight is limited.

✨ Common symptoms include:

Low mood or lack of energy

Changes in sleep or appetite

Difficulty concentrating

Loss of interest in activities

💡 Support can look like light therapy, counseling, medication, exercise, or simply spending more time outdoors.

You are not alone—and support is available. 💛

🧠💚 Ways to Be Mindful with Your Health

Taking care of your health starts with paying attention—gently, consistently, and without judgment. Here’s how:

🔹 Listen to your body – Notice how you feel physically and emotionally
🔹 Slow down when eating – Tune into hunger, fullness, and how food makes you feel
🔹 Move with intention – Choose movement that energizes and supports you
🔹 Rest when needed – Honor your body’s signals for pause and recovery
🔹 Breathe deeply – Use your breath to reduce stress and reset your mind
🔹 Check in emotionally – Acknowledge how your mental state impacts your overall well-being

Being mindful with health isn’t about perfection—it’s about connection and care. 💛

“I am here. I am safe. I am enough.”

Repeat it slowly.
Breathe with it.
Let it ground you in the present moment.
