“Mamá, can I be your caregiver when you are old?” 🥺
Last night, my heart was completely undone by this question from such a pure soul.
Having Tata, my grandmother, live with us, and watching the patients we care for at the clinic, has gently opened her eyes to what aging looks like—and to the beautiful role reversal that comes with it.🥰
When I asked her why she would want that, she answered so simply:
“Why not? You take care of me… why wouldn’t I take care of you?”
And just like that, my heart melted.
Caregiving asks so much of us—time, energy, patience, and sacrifice. It can be exhausting and overwhelming. But it also gives back in ways nothing else can: love, connection, purpose, and moments like this that stay with you forever.
If you are a caregiver, please know this—your work matters. You are seen. You are shaping hearts, teaching compassion, and inspiring generations who are watching more closely than you think.🙌🙏🏼
One day, it will be our turn to be cared for. And if we’re lucky, it will be with the same love we once gave. 💛
