Sitting for long periods of time isn't good for your spine or sciatica. Proper posture includes shoulders (down and back) aligned with hips.
Sitting all day has been connected to an array of health problems beyond back pain including obesity and type 2 diabetes.

Tips to reduce sciatic pain while sitting:
-Keep hips and knees bent at a 45 degree angle
-Position feet flat on floor
-Do not cross your legs
-Consider ergonomics chair for work
-Place a rolled towel at base of chair or lumbar pillow
-Avoid leaning forward
-Relax shoulders, avoid reaching & make sure wrists, arms and elbows are resting on desk

Applying simple ergonomics principles to everyday activities will help you get through the workweek with less pain. Adjustable desk to stand is also recommended.
