Sometimes healing can get stalled cause we are afraid. This is something therapists talk about all the time, but I don’t know that we talk about it with clients as much as we should. Sometimes our fear of going to therapy stems from our fear of change. You’re afraid that you’ll uncover things in therapy or you will dive so deep that you will lose yourself and you won’t recognize yourself when you’re done with the work. It’s terrifying to think about losing your relationships or distancing potentially from the people that you feel safe around. Therapy means creating a space that may feel unsafe for a little while before it feels comfortable. Our blog this week dives deeper into this and gives some practical skills for what you can do to help ease the transition into therapy and to also be kind to yourself throughout the process.
