Sometimes healing can get stalled cause we are afraid. This is something therapists talk about all the time, but I don’t know that we talk about it with clients as much as we should. Sometimes our fear of going to therapy stems from our fear of change. You’re afraid that you’ll uncover things in therapy or you will dive so deep that you will lose yourself and you won’t recognize yourself when you’re done with the work. It’s terrifying to think about losing your relationships or distancing potentially from the people that you feel safe around. Therapy means creating a space that may feel unsafe for a little while before it feels comfortable. Our blog this week dives deeper into this and gives some practical skills for what you can do to help ease the transition into therapy and to also be kind to yourself throughout the process.

This may be something you've never heard before.

Happiness can't be the desired goal.
Hoping to feel a feeling should not be driving your choices.

When we focus on happiness as the only goal, we lose out on so much more and live in a place of pain and suffering.

It almost ends up backfiring on us. If you find yourself thinking things like:

"Why aren't I happy? I have x,y, and z."

Or

"That Instagram influencer said if I just do this every day I'll always feel happy? Why isn't it working?"

Or even

"If only this person/situation/job would change then I'd be happy!"

You beat yourself up every time something doesn't work out to happiness leaving you doubting yourself and negative self-talk. And by constantly comparing yourself to an unattainable level of happiness you can't live in the present and experience all the other emotions that we are meant to.

Here's to every emotion living with the same potential in our bodies. Honoring the emotions as they come and respecting the lessons they bring. 🥰
