Failure is actually the "other success" – just one way something hasn't worked until you find the way it does work. Failure is inevitable (and so is success).
Think about it like this: if I asked you to write with your non-dominant hand right now, you'd struggle. Your handwriting would be messy, shaky, barely legible. But if you kept at it – practicing every day – eventually you'd figure it out.
You'd get better.
That's exactly how weight loss and the behavioral skills required to do life differently work.
It just takes iterations, repetition, and re-tries.
You're not a failure if you haven't figured it out. You just haven't figured it out YET.
When you try something new, you're probably going to stumble. Once, twice, maybe a bunch of times before it clicks. That's just how it goes when you challenge yourself. The real question is: what are you actually going to do about it?
Most people dodge situations where they might fail. Or they take a shot or two and then tell everyone, "See, I tried and nothing works!" Sure, that's one approach – but it's definitely not getting you where you want to go.
So what's actually better?
When you don't get it, accept it. Don't pretend it didn't happen. It was always a possible outcome. And don't beat yourself up either. It just means you haven't mastered the skill yet. It's not about your worth.
Next, figure out what went wrong. And work to make it better. 💬
