As a Marine Corps veteran, former VA employee, and Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Florida and Massachusetts, I understand how complex the VA disability system can be especially when it comes to mental health.
I am now providing independent mental health nexus evaluations for veterans within my licensure states who:
• Have received a prior denial and are seeking a clinically supported review
• Are filing a supplemental claim
• Or already have an established service-connected condition (for example, 10% for tinnitus) and are exploring secondary mental health conditions supported by clinical evidence
For clarity:
A Nexus Letter is a clinical opinion addressing whether a diagnosed mental health condition is “at least as likely as not” related to military service or secondary to an already service-connected condition. It does not determine ratings, replace the VA’s process, or guarantee approval.
Under 38 CFR § 3.159(a)(1), competent medical evidence may be provided by licensed healthcare professionals qualified through education, training, or experience. Licensed clinical social workers routinely diagnose and treat PTSD, depression, anxiety, trauma-related conditions, and other behavioral health concerns.
When supported by a comprehensive clinical interview and record review, providing a well-reasoned medical opinion falls within professional scope.
Important boundaries:
• Services are provided only within the states where I am licensed
• Evaluations are independent and separate from therapy services
• Opinions are based strictly on clinical findings and documentation
• There are no guarantees of claim outcomes
My goal is simple: to provide thorough, ethical, evidence-based evaluations for veterans who need clinical clarity and appropriate documentation.
