My apologies for slacking on posts here. Business is busy; life well, it's busy too. I had the opportunity to visit Fort Meyers with my church outreach for Trauma Therapy for those who indicated a need. The team was amazing, they were able to strip 3 trailer/cottages of everything in order for the owners to hopefully save the shell and rebuild inside. So many in Lee County and around Florida lost EVERYTHING except...their lives! Just a reminder that material things support our lives, but becoming too attached creates challenges. I came home feeling I needed to purge the excess...still in the process. It feels good to get rid of clutter and it's good for our mind's. Giving away what we don't need/use or want anymore, clearing out the junk. Blessings today dear friends!!

As Christian's we have accepted that Jesus "Christ is the SOVEREIGNTY" in our lives...and as such we are HIS to do w/as HE see's fit. We must also TRUST that HE is working for OUR good and HIS glory every little thing in our lives. My story is riddled with failures, but In Christ my life makes sense where humanity would often see nothing of significance. In Christ my testimony is HIS glory! Our testimony is for someone else...never think that your life is insignificant, people are watching your walk of faith and learning about the faithfulness of Jesus Christ!" C.L.Lindsey

BIG news...last day in an office that is NOT about the ministry of counseling is 5/4! Working from home through online platforms; one is a nationally recognized "helping" system which requires a paid membership. The BEST alternative is my own practice:

cb4g-cherrie-lindsey.clientsecure.me.

Working out some kinks in my "onboarding" but, we are up and running! Hope to see you there

CHANGE IS GOOD

I began my path toward licensed professional counseling in 1989 by taking basic college classes to gain my associates degree. I decided that if other women were able to tell their story and offer counsel to those in need, I could eventually do the same.

I began attending Germanna Community College in the 1990’s taking basic classes sporadically. I thought perhaps I would go into nursing psychology for a while, but realized that my mathematical skills were not at a level needed. I did get accepted into their LPN path., but chose not to go into nursing; math heavy and challenged with undiagnosed ADHD. I completed the ParaProfessional Counseling Certificate in 2001. This minor accomplishment began my seeking the next educational level. I entered Northern VA Community College to complete the preliminary nursing courses. I decided in 2004 when my father passed-away that I had to change my educational goals back to counseling, because that is where I still felt the pull of God on my life. I received the A.A.S. degree in 2007 and found University of Valley Forge [Christian College] locally to complete the B.A. in Christian Ministries/Pastoral Counseling. Following University of Valley Forge, I entered Liberty University online to complete the master’s degree in professional counseling.

I began working in the counseling field with a private practice counseling office in Woodbridge, Virginia this also fulfilled the practicum and intern requirements for Liberty. My oldest son and his family left Virginia; feeling very much alone and desiring to be closer to family I chose to inquire about positions in Venice, Florida. I found a mission-oriented position (self-supporting through contributors) within a few months it was obvious that the founder of the organization was not serious about supporting me in garnering support, therefore I could not sustain my own living expenses. I was able to find a part-time job with a local community service agency; however, that too was not sufficient with Florida’s economy to support my needs. A friend was starting a non-profit in Louisiana and offered to provide for my housing and take over her position as an intensive in-home therapist with the community mental health agency where she worked. This came together very quickly, and I decided to move to Louisiana a few days after Thanksgiving 2016. My tenure at Magnolia lasted until early 2018. My work with them had been children/adolescents requiring cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavioral therapy in-home or at-school.

I decided to move to Tennessee to be near family. I obtained employment during that time with Youth Villages, Inc. and continued with them through May 2019, again serving children/adolescents and their families in home, school, and community environs. The magnitude of “paperwork/computer data entry/progress notes/assessments etc.” stressed me significantly. I realized several things that impacted my ability to keep-up; ADHD, stress personal and professional; work expectations that for me were unreasonable. A friend (who also left Youth Villages) contacted me about a position with Communicare (Oxford, MS) to work with the substance abuse/addiction population, I jumped at that opportunity and have been since June of 2019.
