Have you notice that your baby only looks towards one side? Does he prefers to look or move towards one side compared to the other side? Is he/she unable to maintain his head in midline? Does one shoulder looks higher than the other one ? These are all signs that your kid might have tightening of the sternocleidomastoid and is affecting his alignment and head position.

I am often asked: is my kid okay? Is he going to walk? Should he be crawling already?. The truth is that even though there is a “normal development” chart we must understand that every kid develops differently and at their own pace; Each kid is its own world.
If you are worried about your kid falling behind with his gross motor skills and having limited movement or ability to explore his environment this chart might help you.
Remember, there is always a range in the time frames I’m about to provide you and if your kiddo is falling behind, physical therapy can always help.
Physical therapy focuses on movement and development. During physical therapy, your kid will learn how to use his/her body to move and explore the environment. It will allow to treat those impairments that are interfering with his/her “normal” development and more importantly will teach you, the parent, how to help your kid achieve his maximum potential.
