As the year comes to a close, many people feel pressure to finish strong, stay positive, and push through. For some, this can lead to exhaustion instead of motivation.
If you’re feeling mentally drained, emotionally short, or simply “tired in a way sleep doesn’t fix,” you’re not alone. End-of-year burnout is real.
Here are a few gentle reminders as you move toward the new year:
• Rest is a necessity. You don’t have to "earn it".
• You don’t need to reflect perfectly — growth isn’t measured by productivity or checklists.
• It’s okay to slow down — even when the world feels like it’s rushing.
• Support matters — talking things through can bring clarity, relief, and perspective.
• You don’t have to start over on January 1 — healing and progress don’t follow a calendar.
If you’re ending the year feeling depleted, allow yourself compassion instead of criticism. Always remember, Heart Bonds Counseling is here to support you—through burnout, stress, and every season in between.

The holidays don’t have to look a certain way to be meaningful. Perfect plans and picture-ready moments can add pressure and take us away from what truly matters.
This season, consider giving yourself permission to:
❄️ Redefine traditions in ways that feel right for you
❄️ Simplify plans and say no when needed
❄️ Focus on connection over appearances
❄️ Be present, even if everything isn’t perfect
Remember, presence matters more than perfection.

Feeling anxious about holiday parties? You’re not alone.
Here are a few simple ways to protect your peace while still enjoying the season:
❤️ Arrive with a small plan. Give yourself a simple goal so the night feels more predictable and less overwhelming.
❤️ Take breathing breaks. A few slow, intentional breaths can help your mind and body settle when things feel overstimulating.
❤️ Stay connected to someone you trust. Whether it’s a friend, partner, or someone you can text, having an anchor can make a big difference.
❤️ Hold something grounding. A warm drink, a familiar bracelet, or even your phone (mindfully!) can help you feel steady in the moment.
❤️ Give yourself permission to step away. Breaks are allowed. Leaving early is allowed. Your well-being comes first.

A heart bond is an official masonry term referring to a way bricks can be lain. Human hearts are drawn together in many different ways, however. Our bonds are constantly ebbing and flowing, less like bricks and more like the seasons and rhythms of nature.
At Heart Bonds Counseling, our therapists include Stacey Greenberg, LCSW, Jackie Braun, LCSW, Jennifer Garcia, MFT, RMFTI, and Susan Warren, MSW, RCSWI. Our goal is to help you navigate your bonds in the past, present, and future, for a healthier heart and relationships with loved ones and life. Therapy is a process of growth and self-discovery, and we look forward to walking alongside you.
Stacey is a warm and compassionate counselor. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Florida and has a Masters in Social Work (MSW) from the University of Central Florida. She has 10 years of experience working in the mental health field. Stacey’s focus is on helping and empowering the vulnerable — particularly young people, older adults, and individuals/families touched by challenging or unique family situations. She is passionate about helping people discover and recapture a sense of worth, and to fully experience life with a positive identity and interdependence. Stacey specializes in clinical issues relating to adoption and foster care, adolescents, depression and anxiety, spiritual issues, family and couples issues, women’s issues, and adjustment to family changes. She utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy modalities, as well as other theoretical practices. Stacey has received formal training in Trust-Based Relational Intervention and Gottman Couples Counseling to assist in helping families build and strengthen relationships.
Stacey has provided therapy for a variety of individuals, couples, families, adolescents, and groups. When she is not in session, Stacey enjoys cooking (and eating!) exotic dishes, exercise, time with friends and family, travel, and learning more every day.
Jackie Braun is committed to providing a safe and trusting environment where her clients are seen and accepted. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Florida and has a Masters in Social Work (MSW) from The University of Central Florida. She has experience in clinical work with individuals, families, and groups working through trauma, abuse, grief, depression, anxiety, self-esteem, spiritual concerns, relationship issues, and family of origin issues. Jackie is also an Adoption Competent therapist and has previous experience working with birth parents and adoptive families for an adoption agency.
Jennifer Garcia is a Registered Marriage and Family Therapy Intern in the state of Florida. She holds a Master’s Degree in Counseling from the University of Miami and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Family/Child Sciences from the Florida State University. Jennifer has provided services to a diverse population throughout her career. She has worked in community mental health clinics, private practice, and a federal residential center. Her experience includes working with trauma-informed care, providing Spanish crisis counseling to adolescents and families with the Office of Refugee Resettlement. She is passionate about helping individuals and families communicate effectively, live harmoniously, and feel fulfilled in their own lives. Jennifer provides bilingual counseling services to children, adolescents and adults utilizing a cognitive-behavioral and person-centered approach.
Susan Warren is a Registered Clinical Social Work Intern in the State of Florida. She holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Florida State University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from The State University of New York at Oswego. She has a combined fifteen years experience in mental health, children and families, character education in schools, issues related to families in distress, and faith based counseling. In these experiences, she has a heart to help individuals and families facing a variety of challenges; parenting obstacles, depression, anxiety, ADHD, traumatic events, blending families, and the shame that accompanies asking for help. Susan’s passion is to help individuals and families find their purpose, own their individual strengths, and walk them out in their everyday lives. She utilizes solution focused, strengths-based, and cognitive behavioral therapy. She works with clients to use their individual strengths to help overcome battles, provides information to think about challenges in new ways, and offers solutions to help people become unstuck.
Susan has a calling to incorporate faith-based practices into counseling sessions and will utilize this framework upon request.
