I did not write this however it is true.
Addiction is a family disease. It affects far more than the addict alone. If you or someone you love is addicted, John DuRocher Counseling can help.

"There is a solution. It’s simple ! The getting there is almost impossible for some. Watching someone you love, that has fought so hard battling the disease of addiction, throw everything away and sink back into an active addiction is one of the hardest things you will ever do. You want to help them back to a clean and sober life but you realize by doing this, as you have so many times before, will now just be enabling them because it will show them that you will always be there to bail them out. You want to grab and shake them and say "Wtf are you doing" but at some point, you realize that it wouldn't make a difference. So, we sit back and watch the tragedy unfold as if you are watching a movie with no pause button. Feeling helpless to stop it, feeling like you haven't done enough to help, even though you know you have and only the addict can help themselves. Loving the addicted person is one of the hardest things you will ever have to go through. As parents, we pray that we won't get that phone call, that knock on the door or worse ....and then you realize your worst nightmare just became your reality. To all my friends/family who have or had endured this battle; I love you and I am praying for you. The disease of addiction is a family disease, it is the silent beast waiting to pounce, it is excruciating pain for those of us who have to continue to watch those we love battle and struggle to break free of its grip. So, today, l ask you to stand with me in prayer for every family member, every friend who loves someone who lost their battle to the disease of addiction and for those who continue to conquer it; One day at a time! If you or someone you love is fighting the disease of addiction, please copy/paste this on your page. If you or someone you love has lost someone they love due to this disease, please copy/paste this on your page. If you are living proof that one day at a time this disease can be arrested, please, copy/paste this on your page. As a good friend of mine says "you never, ever, ever, ever, ever have to use again!" Many of you will be hesitant to copy and paste this. Some of you won't at all. For the ones who will. I Feel Your Pain. I post this in support of my friends Cindy Trulock Crotty and Pete Crotty as they now have to walk through life learning how to live again affected by the true horrors of the disease of addiction. I love you both, I continue to pray for you and I am here for you."
