Halloween should be a fun and welcoming experience for everyone, including children who are blind or visually impaired.

Here are some simple ways you can make your candy station even more inclusive this spooky season:

𝗨𝘀𝗲 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 — When kids come to your door, describe what types of candy you have instead of pointing or holding out the bowl. Saying “I have chocolate bars, gummies, and lollipops!” helps children with visual impairments know their choices.

𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗧𝗲𝘅𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 — Choose a variety of candies with distinct shapes and textures, like bumpy gummies or smooth chocolate bars, so kids can identify their favorites by touch.
