Our goal is for children and families who visit us to feel at home. We know that a hospital can be a scary place for a young child. So we’ve gone above and beyond to create a care center that is friendly and perhaps even a little fun. At AdventHealth for Children we have made it our purpose to provide your family with the most advanced pediatric medical services built on the foundation of treating all our patients as if they were are own. With more then 140 pediatric specialists practicing in 35 specialties dedicated to healing children, we have built a connected network of 28 trusted locations from Urgent Cares to Emergency Rooms and from Specialty Clinics to NICUs. We appreciate and encourage the conversations and perspectives shared by the diverse AdventHealth online community. To ensure this space is safe and welcoming, all visitors are expected to adhere to our community standards, which you can review here: https://www.adventhealth.com/adventhealth-community-standards. Please be advised that any inappropriate, offensive, or hateful comments will be removed by AdventHealth.

After a routine check for a heart murmur, our pediatric cardiology team discovered that Trey would need emergency heart surgery. On Christmas Day, Trey received life-saving heart surgery even before symptoms appeared.

From diagnosis through surgery and recovery, the Pediatric Cardiac ICU team walked closely with Trey’s entire family. His parents are so thankful to everyone in the PCICU for taking exceptional care of Trey and showing their family such compassion and support. ❤️

This past week, we had some special visitors both at the hospital and at our West Lakes Early Learning Center! 🐿️

Cast members from Likah! A Puppy Musical stopped by patient rooms at the hospital to say hello and the West Lakes Early Learning Center to read Likah's book!

Both visits brought smiles and meaningful moments to the kids. Inspired by themes of friendship, family, and navigating life’s challenges, Likah reminds us of the power of love, resilience, and finding joy in each new day — something the kids show us every day.

Two days after birth, Daisy’s pediatrician heard a heart murmur that led to the diagnosis of Tetralogy of Fallot and Partial Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return. At six months old, Daisy underwent open-heart surgery to correct the four heart defects associated with Tetralogy of Fallot, as well as the misrouted vein. Right before surgery, our pediatric heart surgeon, Dr. Mora, discovered an additional defect which he was able to repair—sparing her from needing a second surgery.

Daisy’s mom shares, "Dr. Mora took the time to explain everything clearly, so we felt prepared and supported every step of the way. We are so grateful for the entire team and how they cared for Daisy." ❤️

This Valentine’s Day, we’re celebrating a love story, times two. ❤️❤️

Danielle and Benjamin had their wedding all planned, but their babies decided to arrive early. So, on 2/2, the couple decided to say "I do" and were married in the NICU at AdventHealth for Children, with their twins by their side.

Officiated by our chaplains and surrounded by their care team, the newest family members became the guests of honor as they said their vows. Two parents, two babies, two hearts forever changed.

Delivered with love. 💌🐾 In celebration of Valentine’s Day, Vee, our Child Life Facility Dog, helped patients feel comforted and cared for — bringing joy, cuddles, and plenty of tail wags along the way.

At 16 weeks pregnant, Arianna learned her son, Alejandro, had Down syndrome. Weeks later, a routine ultrasound revealed an atrioventricular (AV) canal defect in his heart.

After Alejandro was born, Dr. Kelvin Lee carefully monitored his heart through monthly visits, ensuring he was as strong as possible as they prepared him for surgery.

At just 5 months old, Alejandro underwent open-heart surgery and it was a complete success. Arianna remembers the comfort of receiving hourly updates from the surgical team and the overwhelming relief when Alejandro came out of surgery strong. He was breathing and feeding well right away and was able to go home after just 6 days.

Today, Alejandro is thriving — walking, running, playing, and full of energy.

“We are living proof that with a little bit of faith and an amazing team, everything is possible,” Arianna shares. “We are so grateful for Dr. Lee, our surgeon, and the entire AdventHealth for Children team.” ❤️
