One of my patients started Ozempic and noticed blurred vision within weeks.

After testing, we found her blood sugar had dropped too fast — not nerve damage.

With better monitoring and nutrition, her vision cleared completely.

If you have a cataract, your vision becomes cloudy, making everyday tasks like reading, driving, or recognizing faces more difficult — but the good news is, it’s treatable.

A cataract is a clouding of the eye’s natural lens, which normally helps focus light for clear vision. When a cataract forms, it’s like looking through a foggy window. You might notice:

Blurry, cloudy, or dim vision

Increased sensitivity to light and glare

Difficulty seeing at night

Fading or yellowing of colors

Seeing halos around lights

Frequent changes in eyeglass prescriptions

Cataracts usually develop slowly and may not affect your vision early on. But over time, they can interfere with daily life. At first, brighter lighting and updated glasses may help. Eventually, cataract surgery — a safe and common procedure — may be recommended to restore clear vision by replacing the cloudy lens with an artificial one.

If left untreated, cataracts can lead to significant vision loss or even blindness. That’s why early detection and regular eye exams are essential, especially as you age.

Dr. Lauretta breaks down what a cataract really is — no jargon, just clarity 👩‍⚕️✨. A cataract happens when the lens of your eye becomes cloudy, making vision blurry or dim. It’s a natural part of aging, but things like UV exposure 🌞, smoking 🚬, and poor nutrition 🍔 can speed it up. In her newest episode, Dr. Lauretta explains how cataracts form, what signs to watch for, and how small lifestyle changes can help delay their progression. She also busts myths — especially those miracle drops you see online 🚫💧. If you’ve ever wondered whether cataracts are preventable or how they’re treated, this episode is a must-watch 🎥👀.

When I first started practicing, I met patients who waited too long — thinking “natural eye drops” could cure cataracts.

By the time they came to see me, surgery was their only option.

Today’s research shows a better way: prevention through UV protection, antioxidants, and healthy habits.
