If weather permits, definitely spend it outside.
Go for a walk, meditate, pray, do yoga. Get those lumens from the sun. ☀️

You could also spend 4% of your day getting an acupuncture session to boost your qi and immune system, calm your nervous system and/or give you more energy. Worth it? Yes, absolutely!!!! 🤗

养身在动,养心在静。
“The body is nourished through movement; the heart is nourished through stillness.”

This proverb is a reminder that the heart needs some quiet time and stillness during the waking hours as well.

In a world that rewards pushing,
acupuncture invites pausing.

When the nervous system settles,
healing becomes possible.

You don’t always need to do more.
Sometimes you need to pause.
Sometimes you need to receive.

The Lunar New Year marks a transition — a shift from the stillness of winter toward the rising energy of spring.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, spring is associated with movement, growth, and the smooth flow of Qi. When our energy flows well, we feel clear, motivated, and emotionally balanced. When it becomes stagnant, tension, irritability, disrupted sleep, or digestive changes can appear.

This season invites renewal.

It’s a time to:
• Support detoxification
• Increase gentle movement
• Regulate the nervous system
• Release stored stress
• Create space for new beginnings

Health is not about force.
It is about flow.

Acupuncture helps restore that flow — calming the mind, regulating the nervous system, improving circulation, and supporting the body’s natural ability to rebalance.

As this new year begins, may your energy rise steadily, your mind remain clear, and your body feel grounded and strong.

One of the many things I love about Traditional Chinese Medicine is we strengthen the roots.

When Qi flows smoothly…
When Blood is nourished…
When the organs are supported before crisis…

The body becomes resilient.

Wind may come.
Stress may rise.
Seasons may change.

But a well-rooted system doesn’t collapse easily.

Acupuncture isn’t just about fixing what’s wrong.
It’s about cultivating strength so illness has less to take hold of.

Deep roots. Steady breath. Strong foundation. 🌱

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Heart isn’t just a pump.

It is called the “Emperor” (君主之官) of all the organs.

Why?

Because the Heart houses the Shen — your spirit, consciousness, awareness, and emotional presence.

✨ Your joy lives here.
✨ Your clarity of thought lives here.
✨ Your ability to connect, love, and feel peace lives here.

When the Heart is balanced:
• Sleep is deep and restorative
• Speech is clear and authentic
• The eyes sparkle
• There is calm joy without agitation

When the Heart is disturbed:
• Anxiety or restlessness appears
• Sleep becomes shallow
• There may be racing thoughts
• Or even a feeling of “not being fully here”

What I love most about this teaching:

In TCM, emotional health is not separate from physical health.
If the Shen is unsettled, the whole kingdom feels it.

But when the Heart is steady and nourished, the entire system harmonizes.

The Emperor sets the tone.

Friday Funny. Happens most of the time. 😂
Acupuncturists know because it calms down the nervous system and allows the patient to relax. Then pair that with a safe space, relaxing music and an infrared table… and the “acu-nap” happens, which is just what the patient needed.

Baked Curry Cauliflower is a delicious side dish especially for cold days. Even if you’re not in love with curry, this will turn you. 💛
-Cauliflower is good for the spleen, lung and stomach channels. It moves qi, disperses cold and helps alleviate pain. Curry is also a warming spice and moves the qi, relieves pain and clears dampness. Organic coconut oil benefits the yin and conditions of dryness. Such as dry skin, dry cough, constipation, but not good for those w diarrhea. Check out this easy to do recipe. The only problem is it is so good- sometimes it doesn’t make it onto the plate.
One large head of cauliflower
5 T. Organic coconut oil (love Costco brand)
2 1/2 T. Curry powder
2 t. Garlic powder 🧄
1 t. Celtic or Himalayan Salt
1/2 t. Tumeric powder
Instructions:
-Preheat oven to 350 F.
-In a large bowl mix bite sized pieces of cauliflower w melted coconut oil until coated.
-Mix dry ingredients together.
-sprinkle dry ingredients on cauliflower while mixing it to evenly disperse seasonings.
- Spread cauliflower on baking sheet and bake at 350 for 45-50 mins, stirring every 20 mins.
-Or air fry on bake at 350 F for 20 mins.
-Cauliflower will be nice, tender and golden as seen above.
-Enjoy!

What your Acupuncturist wants you to be aware of especially in these winter days. Get those socks on, eat cooked foods and sip your warm cup. Those are the basics. Everything matters.

Your whole body functions optimally when at peace vs your nervous system being hijacked by stressful emotions. Acupuncture helps calm down the nervous system. And it works rather quickly too. I recently had an anxious moment over the freezes in Central Florida and all the fruit trees and plants I have in my yard that will suffer in those temperatures. I gave myself an acupuncture treatment and it worked in ten minutes! I quickly fell asleep and slept through the night peacefully as well. I love seeing the difference in my patients as they come in w anxiety and leave in a calm state.

SP6 is a very important point because it is at the intersection of three yin meridians and it treats so many conditions. I use it so often in my practice because it treats anxiety and emotional conditions, abdominal pain and distention, irregular menstruation, insomnia, vertigo, dizziness, headaches, edema, impotence, sterility, pms, pain in lower limbs, muscular atrophy, fertility, hernia, dysuria, delayed labor and more. Spleen 6 strengthens the spleen, spreads liver qi, and benefits kidney yin.

What’s an Acupuncturist’s favorite plant? 🪴
Did you know a cactus can live 150-175 years? Trust the cacti; acupuncture is the way to go for longevity and feeling your best. Traditional Chinese Medicine helps boost your immune system, helps you live pain free, balances your moods, relieves pms, promotes deeper sleep and provides overall wellness on your journey through life.

I love this Chinese Proverb because I see a difference in my patients who get regular acupuncture. The whole purpose of the needles are to promote a smooth flow of qi, which relieves physical and emotional pain. It also boosts your immune system, digestion, energy and focus. A smooth qi flow balances your moods, hormones and sleep. Monthly sessions keep you feeling at your best.
