Employee Wellness Program - OCPS

Employee Wellness Program - OCPS This is the official page for the OCPS Employee Wellness Program in Orlando, FL.

Orange County Public Schools believes that a healthy staff can more effectively perform their assigned duties and model appropriate wellness behaviors to students. The OCPS Employee Wellness Program (EWP) is designed to reach all employees at various levels of interest and need. Since we are self-insured, we strongly support wellness activities that encourage our employees to play an active role in their own health status. We offer preventive and disease management activities in two parallel tracks of complementary services (clinical/non-clinical). Both tracks offer a full continuum of prevention, early detection and health maintenance components.

A blood pressure reading measures the pressure from your blood on your arterial walls while your heart is pumping. A healthy blood pressure is below 120/80 mm Hg. If you have low or high blood pressure, speak with a healthcare professional. They could help develop a treatment plan to help you manage your levels and lower your risk of developing complications.

Blood pressure is one indicator of a person’s heart health. If the pressure is too high, it can lead to serious health complications and potentially death. Though not all causes of elevated blood pressure are preventable, a person can reduce their risk of complications by managing their lifestyle and minimizing risk factors for developing high blood pressure. Anyone concerned about high or low blood pressure should speak with a doctor. šŸ”— Learn more about how to read a blood pressure chart here: https://bit.ly/40LzQFz

1 in 3 women die from heart disease each year.

Symptoms in women can be subtle—like extreme fatigue, nausea, or jaw pain, not just chest pressure.

Most of these events are preventable if we know our numbers (Blood Pressure, Cholesterol, and BMI).
