“I joined Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) as a commitment to the continued enhancement of the nursing profession. Through membership, I seek to connect with nurses who share my dedication to excellence, professionalism, and lifelong learning. I value the opportunity to collaborate with other nursing professionals and to serve as both a mentor and a mentee, fostering growth within the nursing community. Additionally, STTI membership is a means to develop my leadership skills further and to contribute meaningfully to advancing nursing practice, education, and research.”

Why did you choose to be involved in Sigma? As my teaching is primarily online, and I work at a regional campus, I have found that Sigma is a great way to stay connected to other nurses. The members of Sigma are motivated to improve healthcare, which is inspirational to my own practice as a nurse and nurse educator. Plus we always have great food at the meetings!

How long have you been a board member? This is my first year being on the Board

Have you held previous positions? This is my first elected position with Sigma. I was the Treasurer for the Florida Intercollegiate Rowing Association many years ago, when I was a Rowing (Crew) Coach at UCF.

Your nursing interests. Research interests? Specialty areas? Current nursing role? I am a med/ surg nurse, so I know a little bit about a lot of things! 🙂
My area of research for my PhD was on Nurse Managers' communication behaviours concerning medical errors. Currently I am an Associate Lecturer in the Nursing Systems Department at UCF
