Your anxiety does not define who you are, you do. Anxiety might be a part of you, but it doesn't have to control you. Anxiety does serve a very important purpose, but sometimes it spirals out of control and becomes unmanageable. Anxiety can change and improve, and if your anxiety feels out of control, you might just need to learn better tools for you to take back control 👊

Had a great time at the Space Coast Florida Promise Walk for Preeclampsia this morning with Bridge The Gap Speech Language Services LLC supporting the Preeclampsia Foundation to bring awareness to preeclampsia both during pregnancy and the postpartum period. After a challenging birth and hospital stay, I developed pre eclampsia symptoms 3 days after coming home from the hospital. I would have never known to go to the hospital when I did if I hadn’t purchased a blood pressure cuff during pregnancy. An important tool to have an home for pregnant and postpartum moms. My blood pressure was through the roof, and after a bit in the ER and several tests, I received a magnesium drip and was sent home with blood pressure medication. Preeclampsia during the postpartum period can show anywhere from a few days after birth to 6 weeks postpartum. According to the Preeclampsia Foundation, signs and symptoms can include edema, headache, nausea or vomiting, abdominal pain, lower back pain, changes in vision, shortness of breath, hyperflexia, and sometimes even no symptoms. Preeclampsia can be life threatening for both you and your baby

Are you having trouble falling asleep or staying asleep? These tips along with proper sleep hygiene can help. Bonus Tip: if you’re waking up in the middle of the night and can’t fall back asleep within 5 minutes, don’t lay in bed waiting to fall asleep. Get out of bed, keep the lights low, and do something low key or boring (try a boring book or coloring) that does not involve screens. Try to go back to sleep after 30 minutes.

Back to back posts about sleep, I told y’all I was passionate about sleep! Sleep has such a major impact on our mental and physical wellbeing. You deserve rest and you deserve restful sleep.

CHECK IN: How’s your sleep? For those that know me, you know that I am the SLEEP QUEEN. Always have been, sleep is life for me. The average adult needs between 7-9 hours of sleep every night. And your teenager? They need 8-10 hours of sleep. My magic number is 9 hours of sleep, that’s when I feel my best. Chronic deviation from my ideal amount of sleep can cause changes in my mood, my productivity, ability to handle stress, and I often find myself catching a cold when I go too long without enough sleep. The right quality and quantity of sleep is not only important for our physical health, but for our mental health as well. When working with clients, I always ask about sleep in the first or second session. If you’re struggling with sleep we will talk about healthy habits, good sleep hygiene (ie no late night scrolling 👀), and ways promote better sleep. But if they still doesn’t help, it may be time for you to discuss your trouble sleeping with your doctor to rule out a medical cause.

We’re often told to be kind and compassionate to others, but what about extending those same things to ourselves? It’s easy to be hard on ourselves, but it’s harder to practice self-compassion. Self-compassion is honoring that we are not perfect, that mistakes happen and that’s how we learn and grow. Self-compassion is extending the same kindness and forgiveness we give to others, to ourselves. Self-compassion is treating ourselves with the same empathy, consideration, and understanding that we give to a beloved friend. Self-compassion allows us to move forward after a set back, instead of getting bogged down with self-criticism. You deserve self-compassion, we all do.

📌 What does self-compassion look like for you?

Do you dread work everyday? Whether you work from home or at the office, healthy boundaries with work help prevent our job and career from becoming the center of our universe and becoming consumed with our work. Poor boundaries can affect our mental and physical health, our sleep, our relationships, and our overall life satisfaction. Healthy boundaries are especially important for entrepreneurs. Your work does not define who you are and a work-life balance is possible even for those at the top. Work-life balance doesn’t look the same for everyone, but the boundaries are there! I can help define what those look like for you
