Local Brevard county members of Bikers Against Bullying visited the Viera Campus today for a special visit with students after school. In addition to the excitement of a close up look at the bikes, a ‘buddy bench’ was gifted to promote positive peer relations and support bullying prevention.

The BRU (Behavioral Response Unit) teams are feeling spirited this spooky season!

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) Behavioral Response Unit (BRU) is a co-responder program in partnership with Devereux that pairs deputies with mental health clinicians to respond to mental health crises. Launched in 2020, the BRU aims to provide a more effective and compassionate response than traditional law enforcement alone by connecting individuals with community resources instead of arresting them, thereby reducing arrests and Baker Acts. The unit handles a variety of calls, including mental health issues and substance abuse, and focuses on providing follow-up support to the community. Learn more at ocso.com

Parents and Caregivers: We are excited to offer impactful training sessions designed to strengthen your skills and awareness in supporting youth! These sessions are offered at no cost to families and presented virtually via Microsoft Teams.

Our Behavior Support Program is presenting “Supporting Children and Adolescents with Autism Spectrum and Mental Health Disorders: Insight for Caregivers of Neurodivergent Youth”

This presentation offers exploration into Autism Spectrum disorder symptoms, the complexities of dual diagnosis (co-occurring disorders), the interplay between anxiety and autism, as well as strategies to promote positive behavior change. It is tailored to equip professionals, parents and caregivers with a deeper understanding and practical tools to better support their neurodivergent youth.
